Title: MSU an easy out, but....
Post by: BanditVol on March 09, 2018, 08:02:49 EST
Just hope the team doesn't think all they have to do is show up.

This is my concern.  If we bring our A game, no big deal.  We could also be going home today if the guys aren't focused, too.

It's the SECT, and we're Tennessee. There's no such thing as an easy out for us in this tourney. I fully expect to go out early. Maybe not tonight, but probably tomorrow.

My gut says one-and-done in the SECT and first weekend exit in the NCAAT. I want to be wrong, but I'm afraid to even watch tonight. So I'm not going to. I'm going to go watch some AAU games instead.

Would not bet a solid quarter on the game tonight....Just wouldn't. I know our history all to well.

Go Vols :powert:

Wow, pessimism and defeatism reigns supreme!  I think we win tonight, struggle against some gay turds tomorrow.  But we will see.

And how we do in the Dance depends on the draw, but I see us advancing to the Region.  I know that we have struggled in a few games this year, and Barnes mentioned that after we beat Georgia, but I agree also when he said the team shows up and does what they have to do "most of the time".

In other words, most of the time they did what they had to do, thus it's likely that will continue in the tourneys.

In other words, you are hoping that the team doesn't have the same attitude about MSU that you have?  I'm with you there.

I actually think that this will most likely be a very tough game for us to win.  We must be ready.

I'm more bullish on our NCAA chances than our SECT chances.

In the SECT, we're fighting 40 years of history. Every year, no matter how good we look heading into this thing, we always lay an egg. Always, without exception. I'll believe we can win it when I see it happen.

But I think the lack of familiarity in the NCAAT plays to our advantage this year. The matchup problems presented by our frontline are really hard to prepare for if you haven't seen them in person. I think we're very capable of getting to the second week this year. Depending on the matchups, maybe even the third. I look at everyone being projected on the 2 and 3 lines (our prospective S16 opponents) and no one really scares me. But we'll see how it goes. :powert:

You tend to be a mystical fatalist like the pagans of old.  Highly superstitious.  Did you throw some chicken bones on the floor to forecast our chances.   :naughty:

Having said that, tradition does matter in sports.  But how aware of our SECT tradition is this group of players and this coach is, or cares, I have no idea.

I mean...there really isn't some mystical spirit hanging over St. Louis enforcing "jinxes" or whatever.  You know?

Battered Vol Syndrome is strong in this thread, lol.

Just enjoy it while it lasts, fellas!
