I hope he still has some pop left at the plate. He doesn't, unless something miraculous happens. But like the Ryan Howard experiment last year, this is a no-risk proposition. If he works out, great. Post by: Black Diamond Vol on April 21, 2018, 12:03:29 EDT Speaking of 3B, the Braves are hoping that Austin Riley is their 3B of the future. He's off to an eye-popping .408/.463/.796 start at AA. And that's with playing his home games at Trustmark Park, which is probably the most pitcher-friendly park in pro baseball. At this rate, he'll be moved to Gwinnett soon. If he continues to hit there, he could be in Atlanta by mid-season. And frankly, the Braves need him. He could be a legit cleanup guy to hit behind Freddie, who's getting nothing to hit so far and taking walks at Barry Bonds-like levels. Opponents just don't fear Markakis in that 4 spot (though to his credit, he's hitting very well so far).
