I was OK with anything that appealed to recruits, but personally, I would even go one step further, all white pants, no stripes.  I like the classic look.  Hope we can get back to being one of the classics as a football program.

his is such an American post, I agree with all of it.

As terrible as UT has been in the last 2 decades, I think that it's safe to say that we're better of than the NC winning, murderer producing dickbags south of Georgia

Cool, let me know when you're in town. I got downtown just once for a short time on one of my trips, so I still have a lot to see down there. But the urban whitewater park is pretty cool.
My wife and I have an all time favorite date night resturant in Columbus. The Meritage, I highly recommend it
585  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Anyone familiar with Columbus GA? on: June 09, 2018, 03:41:24 EDT
Well, it's official. I got the job and I'm moving down there next week. So, who all is coming down for the Barn game?

I travel to Columbus (Ft Benning) semi-frequently, and when I make my next trip, I would be glad to buy you a Guinness or 10 at my favorite place, Houlihans. The downtown place, not the one by 185

I've flown on them in and out of both Kandahar and Bagram. The approach and departures are phenomenon,  they seem almost vertical and makes the an us pucker

so according to this site, it's the 70th-worst place in the state

https://www.roadsnacks.net/worst-places-to-live-in-georgia/

That doesn't sound too bad.

well, it is in Georgia. Any city in Georgia would suck to live in because it's in Georgia
591  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Anyone familiar with Columbus GA? on: April 02, 2018, 04:50:03 EDT
I enjoyed Orange Beach
592  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Anyone familiar with Columbus GA? on: April 01, 2018, 03:18:47 EDT
I lived there for 4 years or so, and I'd give it a 6 out of 10. There's a few good resturants that makes for some great date nights, a minor league basball team and a hockey team IIRC. With all of that, there's a good bit of poverty that pops up all the time, and it has a very large military population that gets to be a pain to deal with.

meh.....

Pirate was talking about the '98 game, in overtime, when AW ran over #7, Jesse Palmer
595  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: BDV... it's finally going to be done on: March 06, 2018, 10:38:46 EST
Doug Johnson (aka "Duhg"), just about the worst QB of the SOS era, but had a big enough head he didn't realize that.  That we managed to lose to his mediocre arse in 1997 is attributable to Chavis.  They scored 5 TDs.  One on an int return, 3 on 3rd and 10, and the 4th on 4th and 10.  Chavis rushed 3 and dropped 8 into coverage. Every.  Single.  Time.

But as you point out, he did learn his lesson the next season, leading to, among other nice things, the aforementioned near decapitation of Mr. Johnson.

It was Jesse Palmer, not Doug Johnson

I know Butch is a favorite target, and he clearly wasn't the long term answer. But he was still light years better than Dooley.

Butch was mediocre, Dooley flat out sucked.

While he had some memorable moments, Butch was a bad hire.
598  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Well, today could've gone better... on: February 08, 2018, 08:55:08 EST
I know a lot of fans are dissapointed, but we are coming off 4-8/0-8. That was a disaster, this class is not a disaster.  We all wish it could have been better, but we are not exactly a hot program right now.

agreed, and there's a good chance that we'll take a lot of licks next year too and make matters worse. We play both the teams that played in the NC, Florida seems to be recovering quite well and USC is getting a bit more consistent. The Butch smoke and mirrors caused a good deal of damage

Ratings down 20% from last year.  Folks have just had enough.

You pretty much hit on why I have said all along that Tee will never coach at UT.  Been told that he resents not being as popular with UT fans as is Peyton Manning.  Apparently he feels like winning the national championship should trump anything Manning did during his career.

And it's too bad that is the case.  Tee has, or at least had before he pulled his stunt when he came in to interview with our former MAC level coach, a lot of folks around the program who think the world of him.  It's too bad Tee is bitter over what he perceives as a slight to him.

If he thinks that he should be as popular as P Manning because of the national championship, he has selective memory. He had, at best, an average arm. He had a set of wheels, no doubt, but the close call with Syracuse falls on his shoulders. Arkansas too.
