The way I describe my feelings about Bammer is that I have "dignified hate" for them. It's like an old southern hate where you understand what they are and who they are and respect them for it while hating them at the same time. Contrast that with Florida, where I respect their program but at the same time have general disdain for them. There is NOTHING like beating Alabama. post of the decade!

I'm 5% Cherokee and could care less about 'Redskins', 'Warriors', or other nicks that so many complain about. McMinn Co goes by "The Cherokees" and "The Tribe" and I think that is great. Politically Correct - that says it all.
GO TRIBE!! My wife's HS Not to mention, my team, the Loudon Redskins ;)

I had spent the weekend in Toccoa, GA, and I ran the Currahee Challenge again (my 3rd time). This time was different though. The 1st & 2nd time, I drove up the morning of the event, ran the run, then drove home. This time I took my wife & one of my sons with me, met some of our friends & stayed the weekend for all of the events that Toccoa host during their "Military Weekend.......
The friend we met happened to be a member of the 555th Airborne demonstration team, so he is familiar with a lot of the WWII veterans. Being such, he introduced me Jake "McNasty" McNiece of 101st Airborne fame. McNasty is the unofficial leader of the Filthy 13, better known as the Dirty Dozen. If you had watched the movie, you would understand whom I am talking about. What is not covered in the movie is he is revered within the 101st as saving the entire Division during the Battle of the Buldge by dropping over two thousand tons of supplies during the siege while preforming Pathfinder operations. He truly is a hero, IMO.
The part that I loved the most is he knew my Grandpa, Haskell Hall. They met in England while going through school. They weren't best of friends, but he spoke honestly and well of him, and I couldnt ask for more.
It's a shame that these guys are passing so quickly now. They shaped America into what it is today.

the short answer would be no BTW, how are things?
Busy, but good. over 90% of our guys are back now, the rest will be back within a few days. Little time to relax from getting beat up going to the airport twice a day. Not complaining, but I will be happy once we slow down a tad

Oh it still means something, but that cuts both ways... as you have described. The Constitution is a terrific document that was written by incredibly privileged white boys in the 19th century. This sort of thing as well as military expenditure (generally) are totally out of proportion to what the founding fellers intended imho. I seriously doubt they foresaw, or intended for the USA to become the mega-behemoth it has become. Not only in terms of the traditional "vices", but snooping, military adventures, spy agencies, corporatism, egregious consumption, you name it. Sure we want "strict constructionists", but guess what (speaking to the general populace), things change! And they have in magnificent, and unforeseeable ways. Peace and love. It is the ideal, correct? See it now?
