Sorry dog, you don't get credit for last year. Doesn't really matter though does it? Because tomorrow, it will be decided. Your exuberance is well noted.... everyone is all fired up until they get hit in the mouth. Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise and the plank don't fall, we will stomp a mudhole in yer arses tomorrow..... nothing personal, it's just business.

Uh....after Tuesday night, we may possibly be the number one ranked team... putting the target and pressure squarely on us. Not to be a negative Nelly here....a good problem to have

I turned the game when bammar intercepted the ball late....didn't know there was a PI penalty until I turned back a few minutes later ...and couldn't figure out how we had tied the game. I haven't had this much hope in a coach in a long time. This win feels good.... emotionally good. I have hope now.

I'm actually emotional about this one. I was on the field the last time we won a really big game....that was Florida in 98. This feels like the end of "Groundhog Day". It's the end of a very long day. We may not beat uga but baby..... We're back!

I agree. With CJP being a defensive coach, the notion was the rise of team would come from the defense. Against SEC offenses in Butch's last season our defense averaged giving up over 440 yds/game. Last season, we gave up 361/game against SEC offenses and this year so far it is 408. So the base is there for the defense to move forward, it is the offense that is the anchor holding this team back. Specifically the QB. With decent QB play I think we would be 4-2. The defense would have been complimented in our games versus long stretches of 3 and outs that has become our M.O.
The talk of firing him this season generating buyouts of approximately $15M given the current financial situation in the Ath. Dept is not going to happen in my opinion. He does however need to make changes on his staff which i do think he will do because he probably knows this is his last chance to get the offense right which will in turn get the team right.
And considering that Fulmer will not admit a mistake, along with the pricetag, we are stuck with Randy Sanders...errrr...I mean Pruitt for a couple more years. I am not a fan of the guy. Again we sit here staring at less than mediocrity...I am beginning to wonder if we will ever return to being a top 10-15 program. Oh well.....I give up. I'll watch...but I doubt I will ever be able to drink the koolaid again.

And my Vol buddies said I was stupid when I said I wanted Leach. I think he answered any questions about whether the Air-raid would work in the SEC...against the defending Champs. Oh yeah...in game one. 600+ yards passing. Crazy. LSU lost some talent...but they still got more than most. And...Leach has a defense for the first time to go along with his offense. Gonna be interesting to see how things play out. Glad we aren't playing them this year. And....did Lane Kiffin eat.... EVERYTHING? He looks like he has put on 100 lbs. His offense looked pretty good though.
Finally...the Orange looked pretty good. Good decisions by G...stupid mistakes by a certain defender. Playmakers stepped up. The offense looked great one series and like crap the next. Defensive backfield gotta get better. Overall...a win is a win....but we need to clean some things up. Pleased with the effort and the result.

Yep...she hasn't been here long. She is nice and probably will get a little hand slap over it. She doesn't understand... But she will, if she hasn't already.

Sports / VTTW Message Board / My thoughts on Jeremy Pruitt...
|
on: September 01, 2019, 03:35:00 EDT

My analysis of Jeremy Pruitt... He reminds me of Fulmer in a way...When we hired him, I wondered why nobody else was offering him a head coaching job. When Fulmer left, nobody significant offered him a job. What I see in Pruitt is this: he was a good defensive coach in places where he had great talent. I don't think he is particularly gifted intellectually as a brilliant defensive mind. Fulmer wasn't an intellectually gifted individual either, but he had really good offensive and defensive coordinators and was a relentless recruiter. It worked...until it didn't. Pruitt has a good offensive coordinator now... And we scored enough points to win, but without superior defensive talent, he can't coach them up or develop any sort of innovative game plan to compensate for the lower level of talent. He just doesn't have the capacity to overcome mediocre to poor talent with innovation, game planning or creativity. It's not his fault. The worst part of the equation is that Fulmer hired him and will not fire him for about four years, no matter how poorly he does. I don't expect Chaney to stay more than a year. Maybe we regroup and win a bunch of games this season and I will be eating crow.... But does anyone here want to make a bet? I doubt there is a UT fan one who will bet against me. So, we will likely go 5-7 and miss the bowl season. Recruiting momentum will crash, Chaney may leave, and the nightmare will continue. We are talking about a loss to Georgia State. I don't think I am overstating how horrible this loss was. Is the sky falling? Every indication is... Yes.
