The thing about Missouri is they have both uga and Florida back to back before us so they should be mentally exhausted.

I think the coaching staff might have turned the corner. The players seem to be playing hard and with effort. The staff and players seem to be on the same page  too. Both lines of scrimmage have come a long way and the secondary is playing really well too. We should have a chance in all the remaining games playing like this. Not saying we are going to win them but I like our chances. I know the game changed when Tua left but against Georgia and bama we were in the game until the 4th quarter of each. Several times last night, our coaching staff out schemed Saban but just didn’t execute. That call on Darrell Taylor was the worst call I have ever seen and completely changed the game

Here in West Tn  the best in 4A is Haywood County and Hardin County......In 3A it's Covington who played in the state championship game last year. In class 2A it's Trenton Peabody who won the 2A state championship last year and is probably the best team in West Tn no matter the classification......In class 1A Huntingdon is the best by far but has a habit of getting upset in the playoffs....Then Lake County won has won state championships in the past is undefeated and has one of their better teams in several years.

Wait no love for my 5A Henry County patriots in West Tennessee? Had a rough start against Haywood in week 1 but beat mighty 6A Brentwood two weeks ago and rounding into form with a true freshman QB. Finished last year as class 5A runner up in a weird state title game

Doubt it! Rumor is the LSU admin called him in to talk and he refused to come to the meeting and that left the, no choice but to suspend him. With the way the NCAA is now, I don’t see anyway he survives this.

Does anyone have any basketball tournament tickets? My dad turns 70 and thinking about taking him but all I find on stubhub are nosebleeds.

As long as Dobbs doesn't turn the ball over and give them short fields, we win.  Period.  Their offense isn't capable of driving 70-80 yards on a consistent basis.

Why do you think we will lose SC at home?  They are unsettled at QB, at RB, and their D is still not good and we have beat them the last two years....just wondering....

And I can also name you several running qb's that have made it through the year healthy. All I am saying is why our fans have to always be negative? Why not just say, great, the second string will be ready if he is needed? Why do our fans have to say the odds are significantly high that dobb's will be hurt this season??

Some people's negativity amaze me! Our fun base just can't be happy with anything. When did we become so jaded and why can't we just enjoy things without all the negativity?

Summit created the program as it is now. In her final seasons, Geno was out recruiting and out coaching her. So this is nothing new. This program is not on the level of UConn's, like it or not. As for who should be the next coach, I haven't a clue. The biggest problem with most folks, me included, is that it is just womens basketball. Who cares? But we are going as far as we are ever going to go with the current staff. We aren't even the best team in the SEC anymore. Until Geno retires this is what we have. You figure it out.

LOL, typical response from you.  you always want to start a conversation but when someone's asks you a question, you dodge it.  You asked a question, I answered and asked you one, and you dodged it and said for me to figure it out.  Geez.

I posted on another board a long topic about this, but I am curious to hear your reactions.

To me, Holly gets to much blame for only being in her 3rd year as coach and following a once in a lifetime coach like Summit.  It took Summit several years to break through to win her first national championship, now you expect Holly to do it in 3 years when the sport is much more even leveled and has many more programs that are good?  I just don't get that.  In her 3 years as coach, Holly has won the SEC regular season or tournament championship each season.  She was a #1 seed once and a #2 seed twice.  She has gone to the elite 8 twice  all the while not having a full bench of players because of injuries.  I just don't get why people  want her gone after her first three years and what she has accomplished in those 3 years.  It isn't like summit was getting us to the final four each year either.  Next year, she will have 6'5 Russell back, Jones back, DeSheilds will be able to play, along with cooper who is a great PG. 
 
So again, I will ask, who do you want as a coach?

Just noticed this part as I was rereading some stuff.  I don't know how many times Martin's teams quit.  I would say some, but I am certanly not going to go through all ~ 100 of his games and try and find out.  Even if I did, it would be a subjective call anyway.

Let me just turn that around on you.  How many times did this year's team quit?  I would say at least a few. 

Geez - you amaze me. I believe this team quit only twice all season. How many times did this team come back from double digits down in second half to win? I can't remember them coming back like that several times with the previous coaching staff. Tell me the plays  the previous staff draw up out of time outs? I saw that a lot this year.

So calling for the hiring of another coach is not implying that the current coach should be fired?  Do you ever read your posts and say "what does this look like and should I edit it first?".  Just curious.

Bandit - you should stop living in a glass house. When people answer your questions, you refuse to acknowledge that and go on a different rant so people wonder if you even read before you post again. Time and time again people have pointed out that last's years team should not have been the last team in the field with the talent we had. The only thing you have said is that last year wasn't as bad as it seemed! Really? Based on what? Your thoughts? If last year wasn't as bad as it seemed, why was ut the last team in the field with that amount of talent and the league as down as it was?  If last year wasn't as bad as it seemed, why did the committee make us play in a play in game? You refuse to acknowledge any of that.

I never said the petition was racist.  I said that SOME of the folks signing it very likely were or are.  My my point is that there are DEFINITELY racists in our fanbase (I personally know some of them!) and that this was ONE FACTOR in the dislike of Martin. I never painted the University or majority of the fanbase as racist.

So those fans you know are racist, do they not like UT football because probably 95% of the athletes that have made UT a national player are black?? Or is it coaching figures they don't like being black? I am curious about this.

I was also thrilled with the start of the SEC season, but then at the time I thought Mizzou was a good team when we beat them on the road.  They are literally the worst team in the SEC.

Almost all our early wins, with the exception of Arkansas, were against very poor teams in other words.  As  I state above, the only impressive wins are Arkansas and LSU, and possibly Vandy.  Not impressed at all at this point.

And if a coach is going to be inconsistent, I would rather have one that finishes strong versus one that starts strong. 

Come on Bandit, you seriously did not just say that?  You couldn't be further from the truth. 

First of all, the pre-season media picked us to finish 13th out of 14 teams, so by their standards, UT was only supposed to win a handful of games.  To finish 10th with this roster is a major accomplishment.  Also, I saw our coach draw up plays in Time out situations or inbounds play situations that proves he is a damn good coach.  When did our previous coach do that? Often times, he couldn't draw up a play to save his life. 

Martin took a team that had talent and barely got us to one tournament.  Martin took a Cal team that had their top 3 scores back and he can't get them to the tournament either.

LSU gave us our biggest beatdown of the year in Knoxville, and now we go down there, looking for all the world like a team that is just playing out the string, and beat a team that's playing for NCAA seeding in their house?  WTF?  I forgot we were even playing tonight so I just now tuned in- does LSU have some injuries or something?

No injuries - we out rebounded them by 16! How? I have no idea!

They share regular season title but South Carolina gets the #1 seed in the sec tournament because of head to head.

They need help all over the place so I wouldn't really draft a QB.  I would draft a d-lineman or linebacker and shore up your defense this year.  Next year I might draft a QB.

Having lived in Memphis for 9 years before moving back to my hometown in June, I followed them and still do.  If you haven't ever gone to a game, you should go.  They are quite fun and fairly cheap to attend!  Griz are putting together a nice season so far.

My reaction is believe in Butch.  Has he giving us one reason not to?  People didn't like it when he was hired.  Then they didn't like his assistants.  Then they said him and his staff couldn't recruit against Saban, Miles, Meyer, etc.  After bringing in two full classes of Top 5 national recruits in two years, I think the fans need to back off and trust Butch.  He has earned our trust at this point.

Double edged sword. 

None of us would like it if he were an Auburn verbal who came to UT for an official visit in Auburn garb. 

This is one of the things I don't like about recruiting in this day and time.  If a player is going to make a verbal commitment, he needs to stop making visits. 

Just the way I see it. 

I normally agree with everything you say Herb, but I don't fault these kids for taking all of their visits.  It isn't every day you can get wined and dined on the schools dime and treated like royalty.  Most of these kids are brought up in a difficult home environment and I don't fault them for enjoying each and every one of those 5 visits they get.  Was it childish and unmature on williams part, probably, but he is just 17 years old.  Should he have been the bigger person and just gone in and enjoyed the environment, probably...but in the end, it is the business of recruiting.  Negative recruiting is all over the place and these coaches are filling kids heads with all kinds of negative information about opposing schools.  Why is it ok for coaches to do that, but for kids not to dish it back out?  If this is all that Williams ever does, it is very small compared to what others do.

I am just amazed by some of the plays he draws up in time out situations.  That was a perfect play at the end of the game.  You can't get anymore wide open than that.  I feel bad for Hubbs for it not dropping but you can't make all of those.  Just a couple of mental mistakes throughout the game but they played well despite very difficult foul situations.  I didn't expect to win at Arkansas and they battled hard.  Imagine what Tyndall can do when he gets his type of guys into the system.
