The funniest thing I've seen is a friend of mine that is an avid Bama fan -- making fun of Auburn -- like, I don't think I'd be going there if I was a Bama fan considering their history! Whoop!!
You're friend sounds like a really good guy. I bet I would like him, but he doesn't have to laugh at the off the field problems at AU, because he's got plenty to laugh about just on their on the field problems. My sister, brother n law and nephew are big Tiger fans, with two of them being AU grads. We're a very close family, but Thanksgiving time (UA-AU game) one way or another, is always interesting. The saving grace is her daughter and son n law are both big Bama fans and grads. Both were with me at that first tailgate we had in Knoxville with you guys in 2002. You used to have some great pics of everyone (they are both in it) together at that tailgate BG

Yes, her Duke reporting was ludicrous, and her constant "out to get ya for a story" motivation is well documented. However, what is interesting is Salena Roberts is an...Auburn grad. Rumor has it for some strange reason her season tickets will now be chronically lost in the mail. Oh well, maybe she can now get a pair in T-town. BG

Ouch! I hope it turns out to be smoke & mirrors instead of smoke & fire (unlike your tree-killing rivals). It'll only take about two years to find out. Been a busy morning. I just snuffed out two old white oaks and a huge hickory in the past hour. BG

That's too bad. After an extremely rocky start as AD, he proved to be one of the nation's best...maybe THE best, in fact. Ironically, though, his lasting legacy will be built on a hire that he would not have made had it truly been his choice.
Creek, regarding Mal's choice, what you said is the way the press reported it at the time. However, the story came out after the hire of what actually went down behind closed doors. The first two choices were Saban and SOS. Mal knew that Saban would probably be looking at leaving the NFL after the season due to a call he received from his agent Jimmy Sexton after the MSU game. They knew he would not make any decision on what he would do until after the season. That was a drawback due to the need to get someone in asap due to recruiting. The decision was to pursue SOS, and he seemed very interested but in the end said he was too old to make another move and suggested we get someome younger. Moore wanted to wait on Saban but the BOT said we had to get someone quickly again for recruiting reasons. Mal set a date to meet Rich Rod to discuss the job in a hotel in another city. What was not known was the day before he met with RR, he met Saban's agent at the very same hotel attempting the get a decision from Saban now. The agent was adament that wasn't going to happen as Saban was not going to consider anything until the NFL season ended. Next step was the offer, and eventual turn down by RR. At that point Moore convinced the BOT to wait for Saban's decision in January as the only legit candidate left was Petrino...he was next on the list. The BOT went with Mal's suggestion and eventually it paid off. BG

Wish you had posted those links back when ReVOLver and were having a bit of a tiff a few months ago ...
I too could never understand how he was named head coach at UT with that dismal record at La Tech. The Dooley name and his association with Saban should not have trumped that record. You called it from day 1. BG

Former 5 star High School recruit Gunner Kiel is transferring out of Notre Dame. Would y'all want Gunner Kiel to transfer to Tennessee? What are your opinions out there?
One of our writers on Bamaonline-247 or TideSports-Rivals (not sure which) thinks UT should be in very good shape for him, and it's his guess that's where he lands. BG

I told you and OJ last time at the very least all the beer and food you want I'll pay for at the watering holes etc along the strip. I will try to get with a friend who I post with on BamaOnline as he has a tailgate and has invited me several to attend but I've yet to do. I know he would enjoy you and Pirate, and if not that, then be in Bham that Friday night and me and my son n law will take you guys out for dinner and drinks on me...It would be my pleasure

Good show....saw him play many times in person....You will enjoy it!
Really!?! Wow. I think of those days when I was a kid and remember the National League All-Star starting outfield of Mays, Clemente and Aaron. Watching it now, up to to the 3,000 hit part.

This should be a pretty good season for the Bravos, they should suprise people with their hitting. I think the Braves will win probably 90-95,It doesn't help that the Nationals could win 100. My Dad will be suffering with the Yankees this season,Texeira and Granderson out until mid May. I think the Yanks will win 84-85 games which probably means new Manager in 2014.
Yep, already watched a few exhibition games on the MLB Network. Go Cubbies-Go Yanks!
