The reason I trust my source on the other stuff I have heard is because my source told me....weeks in advance, before this knowledge was public, EXACTLY how many players would transfer and EXACTLY where one of the "big two" was going to transfer to.
This is the reason I give my source credibility...almost the entire reason. The other reason is simply that I find the individual honest in the sense of having no reason to make anything up or lie.

True dat; but the map shows they detected the range was increasing. I'm still not clear how the signals analysis woulda been any different if the plane was flying a course 180 degrees from what they say. I think they are saying that from the wave they can get not only a towards/away as in blue/red shift but that subtle differences in the waveform as to HOW MUCH it was compressed could get an actual angle estimate on the direction. They knew what the max possible shift was (which would have to be based on estimated speed...but according to the article they calibrated it from earlier data when the plane was still in contact). Smaller amounts give an angle estimate. Say max red shift is 0, then max blue shift would be 180, no detectable shift, 90, etc.

More details here: http://www.oregonlive.com/today/index.ssf/2014/03/novel_analysis_of_missing_mala.htmlThat states that they used the time of the ping for range estimates. I wasn't thinking the ping had a time stamp from the plane. But if it did, and if the clock was accurate to nanoseconds as the story says they could get range to a meter or so. Since the Ga Tech prof says ~ 100 miles, if they were using timing it was less accurate than nanoseconds. Doppler only gives velocity, and from what I can tell they were using it to estimate the direction of travel...combining multiple signals of that with a rough estimate on range would narrow it down to about the area they are searching. I think they got it right and that wreckage will show up soon. Hopefully they will find the black box.

There's still a mystery though. What the hell happened ? Why did they turn? Why turn off the transponder?
Oh I agree...lots to still figure out. I heard the depth of the ocean in the general area is as much as 23,000 feet...that's one of the deepest areas anywhere. They have sent a deep sea robot to probe the area. They may or may not find the black box. It could be that the crew was incapcitated and on auto-pilot, it could be there was a struggle and the bad guys won, but got lost. It could be that for some reason the pilot wanted to kill everyone but make the plane hard to find, IDK.... But now that they have at least a somewhat narrow area odds of finding the black box go up. As for the Doppler I am told it was groundbreaking because they had to use a rather limited data set to be able to do the Doppler. Very interesting to me, because this is my field.

Vinnie there were issues on both sides of the relationship. Hamilton was upset over the facts of the BP case (which yes was BP's problem that he created) but also Hamilton was not going to lift a finger to help BP out of any NCAA jam as well due to the Kiffin fiasco. Kiffin was such a monumental failure from a regulatory standpoint that the AD assigned a compliance official to be with Kiffin 24/7 practically. When Kiffinator went out the official was with him due to Hostessgate and several other faux pas made by Kiffin. The signing day allegations about Flip Flop Urbanator had Kiffin on the hot seat with Hamilton since Kiffin was being seen as a ROGUE coach by many within the SEC (not just the coaches) and Hamilton was taking some flack from that fiasco from the SEC. Several lawyers I know have told me Hammy was in full CYA mode much more than what the KNS Fish Wrapper has reported. When the BP episode happened Hammy was sure that he had led UT into having a NCAA meltdown and major sanctions for a long time. Part of the deal after the meltdown in the NCAA tourney was for BP to take his buyout and exit stage left. Several lawyers have told me that Hammy had tried to distance himself but many were sure Hamilton was involved since BP was his MAJOR hire up until the Kiffin firebomb.
This comes from people I know and trust.
Given what a disaster Kiffin was, not only from stuff he actually did, but by inviting scrutiny by constantly running his mouth, it would not surprise me that Pearl was sacrificed as an atonement to the NCAA. Which is not to say that Pearl ddn't do anything wrong...he did. But without the Kiffin part, Hamilton might have dug in a bit more. But again, I am on record as saying I am 99.9% sure that Pearl was doing more than just a bar b que....all of which adds up to Pearl having to be let go. But don't forget that Hamilton let the program get to this point. Dickey likely would never have let things get so out of hand. I think Hart is 100% better than Hamilton...wiat 1000%, wait...10,000%....

I f we are lucky enough to ge tby UCLA, the Dayton/Stanford winner, and beat the ohter bracket to get to the final game I want Connecticut, not you guys. We owe them one for that last minute buzzer beater with Wilbekin on the bench.
If you guys win through and we don't, I will be cheering for you. You guys have a good team.
Psssst....Jimmy....Connecticut IS "the other bracket". You would meet them in the SemiFinal, not the Final. Gators..... And yeah, I am pretty much joking about meeting you in the Final, but hey, anything is possible I guess.

Coach didn't realize it was a violation? Bandit - Pearl told the recruits (Craft, Selby, McRae) in attendance while they were there that it was a violation and to "lay low" about it. Bruce knew the rules, and even if he didn't ignorance of the rules is no excuse. Yeah, at one point I knew that and forgot it. I really don't care. I think I make it clear above that I don't really have that much sympathy for Pearl, and this just adds to that. The main point of my post was to emphasize that I dislike Aaron Craft anyway. To rat someone out over a really minor thing AFTER you lose to them just seems really...I don't know...childish? But it isn't just me...one of the ESPN blogs said that Craft was a "polarizing figure" in the Big 10. Apparently he has rubbed quite a few people the wrong way.

I despise Ohio State as a general rule and relish their defeats, but Tennessee fans who are angry over Motta or Craft are no different than the knuckleheads in Alabama who have raked Fulmer over the coals for years and made it next to impossible for him to attend SEC Media Days.
Oh I dunno...there's a difference between paying 100K for a player and, I don't know, getting a free meal when the coach probably didn't even realize it was a violation. And it's definitely rat-like behavior to only report it after you get your ass beat. But let's be clear...Aaron Craft wasn't the downfall of Bruce, Bruce was. He didn't have to lie to the NCAA. But maybe not surprising for a guy that lied to his wife. Bruce destroyed himself. Doesn't mean I have to like Craft.

I don't think he will but if he does play football this fall, and hits the weight room with the football team, he could turn into even a bigger beast. Won't happen but nice to dream.
I like the guy. I like his humble way of giving God the glory after every game. With some players you suspect it's mostly an act, but not this guy.

They are young, but do have three starters back from a team that went to the Final game with Louisville last year. Good news...the other two are in the NBA. They shot 50% from 3-point land against Texas, beating them by 13. I am not terribly impressed...including the loss to Michigan, Texas was only 4-6 down the stretch, including a loss to Texas Tech. FWIW, I didn't pick Texas to advance past the this game in any of my 11 brackets. I doubt seriously if they can maintain that shooting against us, that's unusually high for 3-point shooting. Agree with what others say...not much inside game, depend on the outside shooting. They do have a really good point guard..Staukas, who oddly enough is from Ontario. Since when do Canadians play basketball. I thought Richardson did a fine job on Hall today, I expect he can handle Staukas. Hall did get loose for some points in the second half though, but I like this match-up. I haven't checked every game, but we seem to have struggled with other teams that have size inside this year and Michigan doesn't have much there. But the way Richardson and Barton are playing lately, who cares about rebounds, we can apparently just shoot our way to victory.

I didn't see the game, but heard it on the radio. Would love to have seen his face at the end. Regardless, when Iowa scored to go ahead, the color guy said that Williams was "apoplectic" screaming at his players. Maybe I can record a replay, get some popcorn and watch that part a few times.
