We are a running team. Embrace it and stop trying to be a downfield passing team.

We need to have the threat of a passing game to reduce the packing the box, which will enhance the running game
8928  Sports / VTTW Message Board / If there is a game to find a passing game it is this one on: October 08, 2015, 01:32:05 EDT
Heck Crompton looked All American against the puppies ...

The problem is that our offense is geared to the point you need to play 6+ WRs.  This isn't Cut's offense.

What we are doing is subbing more as packages.

North has been hurt, but even when healthy has difficulty getting separation, of any type, though his speed makes him valuable for back shoulder, if Dobbs threw one in the right location (see OU game down East sideline, going South).

IMO Smith is our best receiver, followed by Jennings & Johnson (when healthy, he just gets open) and then the group of Pearson, Williams and Malone, then North.

Last week the majority of the time it was Smith, Malone and Jennings/Williams with Pearson spelling Smith and Malone.

The other thing we do is really move the WRs around in different sets.  Often Malone had difficulty picking up the formation/play from the sidelines when he was on the East side of the field.
8930  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Reconsidering our WR issues on: October 08, 2015, 02:55:10 EDT
I tend to disagree to a point.  The reality is we essentially played last week with 5 WR, of which #3, #7, #25 played the majority with #15 and #9 playing a significant, but fewer snaps (#81 was in for a handful or less plays due to injury).  I think 5-6 is a good number of WRs to play and in reality, except for a few years that is what we have played.

Come Saturday I expect those 5 plus North to play most, if not all the snaps.

I'm ok with that,.

Wish I shared that optimism, C-dubs, but I just don't see it.

We just can't throw the football, and UGA knows it and is athletic enough to exploit us.  Until we prove that we can throw it, and I just don't see that happening with Dobbs, we are going to struggle.

And Chubb might have a career day against us.
I'm more concerned with Michel

The only receiver that Dobbs ever trusted has been dismissed:  Alton Howard

Also was the best blocking WR on the team
8935  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Crowder Story (Please Delete if Necessary) on: October 06, 2015, 04:25:57 EDT
I sincerely hope there's nothing to the rumor. What a cluster that would turn into...
given the reporting that occurred at the time I would have to think that if there was more to it it would have become public then.

Crowder was pissed at the time due to being removed as a starter.
I'm sure it was intense as that was the timeframe of the practice restart and reports indicated Butch and staff were "in their faces"
8936  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Five Players we should bench/demote, IMO on: October 06, 2015, 03:59:18 EDT
He's listed as a player who might be picked up as a free agent by the NFL, the 21st strong safety in the upcoming draft.  That's not spectacular, but it's certainly good enough to be a starter in the SEC.  We will just have to disagree on this one.
we can't always count on Cam being in position to contain his failures though

He is usually around the ball and has been a very reliable last line of defense.
That would be Cam, who is mucho faster

new to this board, that said man you are an angry man. Prior to CBJ and CDD and CLK we had issues and those issues were such that most coaches did not want to come into this program.  Was it Hammy at the base of the problem?  idk but I know this the program is one I love to follow and yes I attend or watch every game.  I am a fan and I believe I understand the game and what it takes.  another poster said it best-  I don't like or dislike the coaches I like what is best for the university.  My concern is when do we hit rock bottom, are we there and when does the climb back up take traction.
Recruiting has been very solid as of the CBJ era, I just don't understand the lack of depth at OL and the talent that is there just does not seem to be on the same page-several game film breakdowns showed the OL in disarray-couple times it was almost like the UF video where they blocked each other.  I believe the future is bright-the DL and OL have talent-it needs to be developed and we have not seen some of the players that will be regular names on the OL-Richmond comes to mind.  why has Blair not developed?  that is a legit question-he was one of the top juco OL two years ago-he had the tools on paper but why can't that transfer to the practice field and to game day?

I believe for Blair the light hasn't come on, for whatever reason.  It happens.  If that became the norm I would be concerned.
8941  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Five Players we should bench/demote, IMO on: October 06, 2015, 04:03:20 EDT
He is highly overrated. Always has been. Tell me the last big play he made.

To be fair, he played well last year.
However, in the four games I've watched this year (missed WC while in the UK) he has, to me, been a big disappointment.  Numerous position issues (BG & FL especially).  There have been a couple of times in space where he looked like a true FR in his first game.  Against BG in the first series after the non-weather delay and Saturday night in the (I think) 3rd quarter where he a) had poor coverage and b) got spun around like a top.  Frankly, McNeil and TK have been far more consistent in coverage than Randolph this year IMO.

       The reason us "grown ups" get so butt hurt is, we are paying for a product and not getting our money's worth.javascript:void(0);
no way!  You are just an old fart!
8943  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Five Players we should bench/demote, IMO on: October 06, 2015, 01:32:55 EDT
Randolph had a bad game, but he's been pretty good in other games.  In fact, he's our fourth leading tackler.

Reeves-Maybin 33
Barnett            19
Kelly Jr            15
Randolph          14

Randolph was second team All SEC last year.  He's a great player IMO.
He also probably 2nd on the team for missed tackles (behind Jumper).
8944  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Here is the perception I get of a lot of posters here. on: October 06, 2015, 12:52:47 EDT
I guess some take this game more seriously than others. Don't worry, you will grow out of it. It is still kids playing the game and the so-called grown-ups get more butt hurt over it than the youngsters.

Creek must have been wondering around an abandoned mine, and inhaled some noxious gases.

We can absolutely win, but I don't envision us scoring the requisite number of points.
naw, up where he's from they get their fumes from a mason jar ...
8946  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: We absolutely suck and are now getting worse on: October 05, 2015, 10:22:32 EDT
My question is,  if you can see this, how Dobbs didn't see the receiver or threw poorly, then why can't Jones. He is making the big bucks to see this type stuff and adjust. But he doesn't adjust.
two things: one, perhaps Jones thinks that Dobbs provides our best chance to win.  His past actions at previous stops and here tell me he is not tied to a starting QB (unlike Fulmer, who flat refused to allow a less senior play play unless it could not be avoided) and 2nd we can't really know what the reads are on a particular play.  Based on tendencies we can guess (or if one happens to be watching the QB)

Dormandy warmed up in the 3rd quarter of the UF game and it did not appear to be a game of toss, as he was firing the ball at the end.
8947  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Five Players we should bench/demote, IMO on: October 05, 2015, 09:28:09 EDT
Yes the coaches have been fizzleing up, but there are players that are not pulling their weight.

1 - Dobbs - Simply has been highly inconsistent in the pass game. Does not even look as good as last year, and you can tell he lacks confidence. If we're going to insist on running a pro style offense, put Dormady in. It may be time.

2 - Randolph - He has been awful this year. Consistently has been out of position, overruns plays, and he is slow as well. Bites on play action and can't recover. He's never impressed me as being a great safety, but he has regressed.

3 - Jumper - Needs to not play at all, he is terrible. No idea what he is doing on the field.

4 - Kendrick - He's consistently been bad. Get Hall in there and don't look back

5 - Crowder - I know he doesn't start, but he shouldn't even get meaningful snaps. He is not very big, he is not athletic, and he is a liability.
i would add Wiesman, give Jones a shot (yes I know that would place two FR on the right side but how much worse could it be?

FU Pirate. So Jones is safe in your mind? What has he done to keep his job. His coaching has let a lot of top recruits down. Or is that lost in your orange tinted glasses.Like I said, when he out-coaches someone , I will be the first to say good job. When that happens, let me know. What do i have to man up about? I have not been a fan of Jones x's and o's coaching from the get-go. Of course most here just gush about his recruiting. That has gotten him a 2-3 record against five teams he should beat. Why do I need to man up and not him and this team? You speak BS.
its like voting, either participate or STFU

By your on words all you give a shizzle about is negativity.  Facts are a four (4) letter word to be avoided at all costs.
When you are prepared to discuss the game and the actions, opposed to preconceived opinions don't bother expecting any reasonable response from me.

Creek, Bandit, 'nut, HTV, Phil (& others) and I all disagree at times but we are all invested in the program to a degree you cannot fathom.  We disagree technically, not just how we "feel"

Many of those and I have sat together at various games and they know that I don't always watch the ball but see how the receivers are running routes, how the secondary is playing, how the lines are blocking or attacking the other team, etc.  it is one thing to know the final score, or see highlights but is another to know how/why those occurred.  For you I understand why you do not want to know because reality might intrude on your preconceived fantasy.
8950  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Didn't watch the Arky game. Can't take the stress. Watched highlights on: October 05, 2015, 06:59:11 EDT
Consistency is a virtue. Don't read them then. What is your point? I am pissed at this program. When is their underachieving not acceptable to you and why is my disgust for the current situation bother you more than anyone elses's here? I have read a ton of negative posts here, why does mine get your little girl panties in a wad? I laugh at your lameness.
Being a consistent #badword# is a virtue???????????????
