1  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Good luck tonight, basketvols. on: January 02, 2018, 10:09:45 EST
We have not played anyone of significance. Tonight will be the first true test for Auburn and will be a good judge of how good, or bad, we really are.

Bandit

You know a sure way to spot the losers?

They are the ones complaining about the officiating.

Tennessee had the opportunity. We didn't make the plays or the shots necessary.

Then as a non-UT fan, I'll say it.  The officiating sucked in that game, and it was most certainly more one-sided against UT.  The no calls were specifically glaring, I thought.  You guys have a great team, though.  No reason, outside of major injuries, UT shouldn't be in the dance this year. And if they continue to improve, they should be in the SECCG come early March.
4  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Just got back from seeing The Last Jedi on: December 18, 2017, 02:51:37 EST
Wow.  I thought this was easily the worst of all the SW movies.  I liked the prequel movies ok, but they weren’t great for sure.  TLJ was ok, but it could have been ten times better.  The interaction between Rey and Luke on the island was a farce.  The casino sub plot was idiotic.  The overall plot was pretty lame if you think about it.  It had some great moments and was well made.  The story was just a hodgepodge of marketing points and social commentary and little to do wit what Abrahms set up in TFA.  This director literally took all of th SW story and thre it over the cliff!  I’ll see it again, but not as good as the prequels IMO

If I want dysfunctional, I can watch Family Guy or Shameless.  I really don’t want to see much of it in SW.  I’m surprised We didn’t find out that Luke was hooked on Opioids or some silly thing

I won't go that harsh, but it was not nearly as good as The Force Awakens, IMO.  And it was not as good overall as last year's Rogue One...again, IMO.  It was a good movie, but seemed forced at times...pun intended.  I may catch hell for this...but Mark Hamill is not a great actor, and I think it showed in this movie. But...I try to watch movies and just enjoy them, and I enjoyed this one overall.  Trying not to spoil it...the two best scenes in the movie were, IMO, the light sabre trick that was mentioned here and the Holdo light speed move. And I did enjoy the bits of humor that was spread through the movie, but thought it was a little too much. There...now y'all can get on with your lives :-)

Wow...that party was 10 years ago?!?!  Man...time flies.  My little 2 year old and baby are now 12 and 10 and they have an 8 yo little sister now.  Shouldn't you be doing your duty and planning a 20th anniversary party?  Just saying.
7  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Apparently they made Doeren an offer while we were sleeping.... on: November 30, 2017, 02:38:34 EST
All this time, we've just chalked this up to incompetence in our leadership, but I think it may be time to question that.  Is there actual malicious intent?  Does Haslam have some kind of financial stake in the failure of UT athletics?  Would it somehow help him consolidate his power?  Because it now seems that he and Currie are actively working against us, subverting the will of the people, and intentionaly trying to pull it all off under cover of darkness.

Just a random thought, but I think it's an angle that needs to be explored.

I'm curious about something if you don't mind an outsider asking this question.  Is the Haslam connection and the view of Haslam being the man behind the curtain in all of this fact, or is it just conjecture at this point? Living here in Knoxville has me curious.
8  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Two Things: First, Happy Thanksgiving. Second, Get a Great Coach on: November 22, 2017, 04:42:06 EST
Hope you all have a wonderful and great Thanksgiving Holiday.  I don't visit here much, but lurk from time to time.  And have met a few of you. So, hope this week is filled with great fun and family a win to end the season.

For the coaching search, I hope you guys hit a home run. I've always loved UT and hope you guys bounce back. It would be nice to have y'all start beating bammer again on a regular basis.

One question: what is your drop dead date for getting a coach? In other words, what date do you have that, if there is no coach announced by, you will go into full on panic mode? I'm assuming it's not too far out in the future given the early signing period and recruiting that is still needing to be done.

11  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: I know next to nothing about A&M. What makes them 6 point favorites? on: October 03, 2016, 04:24:41 EDT
As Pirate pointed out, their front seven be really good. Their QB (Knight) is also hot at times and can burn you with his running. But as they showed with USCe this past weekend, they can be cold and sputter on offense. The 6.5 point favorite I think is the 3 you get for home team, plus their defense being pretty good.

IMO, the toughest matchup will be for your O line trying to keep their front 7, specifically Myles Garrett, from killing Dobbs. That guy is as an impressive of a DE of any I've seen in the SEC.
12  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Dayum. Just, dayum. Play and game of the year. on: October 02, 2016, 01:40:08 EDT
You guys are starting to look like the typical team of destiny. Congrats! Love it when the hobnail boot's on the other foot!!!
13  Sports / VTTW Message Board / That was some of the best damn Halftime adjustments I've seen. on: September 25, 2016, 02:24:51 EDT
Congrats to the Vols!!! I thought Butch was toast at the half. Great game. If UT can identify themselves as the team in the 2nd half, the SEC-E is theirs to lose. And it'll make the bammer game that much more interesting. Woot!
14  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: I'm sure we've all seen these memes. Are they just sour grapes or rightly on: September 14, 2016, 08:29:01 EDT
From what I am hearing, recruits liked it bunches. And isn't that what some of this is all about? Getting the best of the best (dare I say, the 1% of the 1%) to want to come to your school based on exposure, TV time, and big events such as this? Let the memes fall where they may. In the end, if you guys get top talent, you can take them and put the memes on their helmets as they bulldoze the competition.
15  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: So after all the hype and promotion has ended, to those of you who attended the on: September 13, 2016, 09:28:07 EDT
Glad I went
Experience was cool
Once was enough
Security SUCKED
Game without binoculars was a waste
Colossus wasn't all that
4 hours back to campus after the game

Ditto to everything Pirate said. More specifically, it took us 2 hours to get to Bristol; another 2 1/2 hours to get to the parking area (4 1/2 hours total). It took 3 hours to get back to campus from Bristol. The throng trying to get in was handled poorly and, as Pirate said, Security sucked. Some vendors ran out of food by middle of 3rd quarter. All that being said, I'm glad I was there as after watching the replay on TV, it was truly something to behold in person and could not be adequately represented through the tube.  Pre-game, anthem, halftime shows were very well done.
16  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: I took almost two (2) fizzleing hours to get to and through the the hate on: September 11, 2016, 03:15:01 EDT
Two hours to Bristol from campus. Another two and a half hours from the exit to parking (chartered buses). And yes, lines to get through the gates were unreal. Walked through metal detectors that were active but nobody checked anything. They could probably have some improvement opportunities next go around.

Got back to Knoxville pretty quick though. Nothing like collapsing in bed around 3:30.
17  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Gotta admit, I had my doubts about Bristol attendance on: September 11, 2016, 08:30:09 EDT
it was FULL
Maybe a few empty seats
Big Orange nation showed out
Minimum 60-0 but I think it was closer to 70-30'as there were a lot of orange on their side of the field and large sections of orange in their sections of the South (turn 4) of the end one seats

We were at the end of turn 4 and it was dominated by Vols. Great atmosphere for a game.

Knoxvegas and thence to Bristol baby

If you want, I'll let you buy me lunch in Knoxvegas. Or dinner if you would prefer. I'm flexible
19  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Well, I'm going to the Battle at Bristol. on: September 07, 2016, 12:33:29 EDT
I'll be there in the Waltrip section A. Like Pirate, we are doing the bus thing so as not to have to drive in and out of there. I'll be the one with an Auburn shirt on :-)

A few summers ago I seem to remember a consensus that you had by far outkicked your coverage ...

Oh...absolutely. It's not even close. Still not sure why she still hangs around. I just keep my head down and keep doing what I've been doing.

Hey right back atcha. Great meeting you on Friday. I think we are the two best looking guys here at VTTW.
22  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Remember when Gus Malzahn was feared by everyone? on: September 06, 2016, 02:02:40 EDT
Tnphil id right. We had some momentum with Franklin in. Then put the guaranteed to fail JJ in. It was pretty frustrating knowing that the QB switcharoo never works. Never. And we still had a chance to win thanks to our D playing the best game it has played in about 3 years.
23  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Knox area VTTWers: late summer / fall camp Happy Hour? on: September 04, 2016, 09:08:16 EDT
Just wanted to let you all know that 73VolGrad and I met on Friday and talked about all of you. He told me some pretty dark stuff about most of you, so I've got that info I can use. We also formed a plan to take over Emeril's next tailgate and make it a rocking 70s Disco party. Get ready for the platform shoes and bell bottoms. And BeeGees. Lots and lots of BeeGees.
24  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Knox area VTTWers: late summer / fall camp Happy Hour? on: August 30, 2016, 03:54:00 EDT
Well...looks like just 73VolGrad and Jethro are available. Don't think that would be worth the rental fee for the larger meeting room. So, I will plan on coming by the Hardin Valley Casual Pint around 4pm (I'll be the one with the Auburn shirt on  ). If you guys want to drop by, first round is on me. We can chat about Vol football, Auburn football and how we all could run this here place better than anyone. We can also talk about people who don't show up  . Hope to see y'uns there.

Hope that MN dome will be snow weight tested. The Vegas dome, should that be realized, is way cool.
