Heard information this morning that implicates a booster (I have a name but I'm not posting it since it's just a rumor) as paying for Bryce Brown's services at UT.
Don't shoot the messenger.

I have heard some rumors here and there but nothing specific with names. If it's true I would hope that MH will seek that person out and be proactive in disassociating them from the program.
I would not be surprised in the least.

What frustrates me, especially if something bad does end up coming out of the BB recruitment . . . we got one season out of him and I don't think he made any difference in our W-L record at all. We could have just let him go elsewhere and have no negative effects on our program whatsoever.

Kiffin had to have the splash of the #1 recruit, no matter how he got it. You know that if this is true that he went out and solicited the booster's help. That doesn't make the booster or UT any less culpable though.

If that's true (and I don't doubt that it is), I hope this booster is willing to spill his guts.

Yep... for the good of the program and the bad of Kiffin, if my theory is true (and it's just speculation by me, nothing more) then the best thing would be for said booster to say "Lane Kiffin asked me for help and I helped and I was wrong to do it."

If you are meaning given him a release, I don't think that has been a factor in any investigation.

Still even if the booster did say that kiffin came to him asking what can the NCAA do to kiffin anyway?
I also think Hamilton seat will get extremely hot if this is true.

I agree... I think I was wrong a month or so ago about Hamilton... I think he is going to have trouble surviving anything major on the violation front. If we get major violations over Brown, Kiffin will have actually set our program back from where it was when he took over for Fulmer, meaning we would've been better off had we actually kept Fulmer another year (ONLY if we get major probation). In that scenario, Hammy is in deep trouble.

With the microscope that was on his recruitment, I find it very hard to believe that. Not saying it's not true, but what kinda idit would think they could get away with that?

Did Tennessee pass a law that would basically allow the University or the state to sue anyone who does anything that results in loss of revenue, etc? If so, this booster could be sued, as well as Kiffin, maybe.

There is a big leap between sending chicks to a H.S. football game and paying someone $$. That said, if it is true, then he needs his butt kicked. I mean someone catching him outside their practice field and beating the ever loving $hit out of him.

As much as I'm still holding out hope that it isn't true, the fact is that we had boosters who were willing to give Kiffin just about anything he wanted during his short stay here. So it wouldn't be much of a stretch to find out that there were major infractions involved with Bryce Brown's recruitment.
IF if turns out to be true, it's a sad day for the University of Tennessee...in that not only did Kiffin use the school the way he did, but he left behind consequences that will leave the school suffering long after he's gone.
So much for his "I left the program in a better state" B.S.

Question: Can the NCAA slap a show cause on someone who's currently employed?

Well, let's not act like the hostess thing was the only thing that proved Lane to be an idiot. None of us need to be reminded of all the stupid things he said and did before, during, and after his year at UT.

If it proves to be true that Lane did in fact do this, I don't see how it can be a surprise to anyone.

My point is there are minor violation thumbing your nose at the NCAA stupidity and major punishment arranging money stupidity. How could anyone think with all the attention his recruitment received that they could slip $$ by seems beyond stupid.

I know what you are saying... but I'm not sure why we'd be surprised by anything stupid that staff would do. They were used to getting away with it (at least back then) at USC.

...and made no mistake that they wanted to turn us into USC-east.. seemingly in more ways than one.

Well nothing is proven yet. As for Bryce's contribution, he did manage to gain zero yards at the end of the ucla game when hardesty should have had the carry anyway. Don't sanctions follow a coach? The ncaa certainly nailed kelvin sampson at iu.
