...now is definitely the time.

We have a young, likeable, quotable coach who will only get more media exposure as he experiences more success.  We have a young, exciting team full of freshman contributors (if not outright stars), yet we still are able to sell playing time to potential recruits.

And now, just look around the SEC:

Meyer:  Gone.

Richt:  If he makes it past next season, I'll be surprised.

Spurrier:  Will probably retire after next year, if not sooner.  Can he really tell an incoming recruit that he'll be around to see them graduate?  I don't think so.

Saban:  The guy is Fulmer's age, and he's already accomplished everything he can at Bama.  And the NFL will keep calling.  How much longer do you think he'll stay?

Miles:  Probably saved his job with a strong season this year.  But he loses a big senior class, and if (when?) he loses three games next year, he'll be right back on the hot seat.

Chizik:  Any new revelations in the Newton case could send him packing.

That's all of our major SEC rivals, folks.  Suddenly, we look like a picture of stability with our 1st year head coach.  We can sell that to recruits.  Finish strong with this class, and then land a lights-out class next year, and the SEC will be ours for the taking.  Of course, we wasted a similar window of opportunity when Spurrier left UF.  Will we do the same this time?

I agree with some, but I think that Spurrier will stick around for a while longer and Saban will continue to have good success for at least a few more years

Also, look at the coaching situations at some of the national programs that we regularly compete with for recruits:  Miami, Texas, USC, Michigan to name a few.  The door is wide open.  We just have to walk through it.

Biggest reason we can do so in the next 2 years.....we have a talented young QB and a young OL which will be getting experienced, along with some talented WRs. QB play is huge in terms of being successful in football.

Recruit recruit recruit.

While I would love to own the league, I just want to get back in the mix!

I was really surprised when talking to some of my die hard LSU relatives to hear that they want Miles gone. I asked them what more they could want in a coach, he's gotten them a NC, kept them in the top 10 and has some good recruiting. They said they wanted someone who could look at a clock and tell time.

What if a coach can tell time but has trouble counting?
