trying to hock tickets, especially packages. I told them I plan to come to a couple of games but don't want the package because I am not going to be able to go to all the games. I have never had the ticket office call me before, found that interesting.

Yep, they called me, too.  I dropped two of my 4 tickets last year.  I have gotten several calls from them this year already.

I'm looking for a crowd of about 80 to 85K for the Montana game.

Until the product on the field improves, attendance is gonna suxes.  Simple as that.

There have been a lot of e-mail "promotions" for season ticket holders to buy additional tickets.  I know I probably could have gotten Montana tickets cheaper, but I bought a pair for an active duty military member who will be there just to be able to say I had them in hand, and the "best available" seating for a pair was not that great.  I will be there with my wife and kids, so I also got four together during a "special promotion" so we would be able to sit together.  Again, the seats are not that good.  I think there will be a lot of ticket purchases on the street the day of the game.

I also got a call and the only time I've ever purchased tickets directly from the University was two years ago. They are pushing really hard to try to sell as many tickets as they can. The guy I talked to said he was my dedicated ticket specialist and he encouraged me to save the number he called from and his name in my phone.

I did buy an extra pair of single game tickets for Montana. I think the walkup scalper crowd will be pretty decent for that game.

I think the failure to sell tickets is 30% economy, 20% competition for the entertainment dollar, and 50% product on the field.

Didn't they hire some kind of outside "ticket pusher" firm for the first time this season?

I think you're correct on that one. I wasn't sure when that went into effect, though. Guess it's this year.

I haven't gotten a call yet.

I had to visit the emergency room three times in eight days a couple of weeks ago and that's going to chew up all of my money that I was going to buy season tickets with. I'm still going to try to make it to at least 3 or 4 games, though...just can't decide which ones. Georgia and LSU for sure but I can't decide on the others.

Yes.  There is an independent marketing firm working for the UTAD this year.
