The Mountain West and CUSA are combining into one conference.  Yes, that just happened.  That East Carolina to San Diego State roadtrip will be a real bear.

I don't know...I see some comedic value in it.

Not that silly if you look at the divisions.  If you have 10 or 11-team leagues, you will not play out of conference much.  The east teams will play east teams.  The west teams play west teams.  Long trips will at most be held to one a year.  They are doing it to get a championship game and to try to get an automatic BCS bowl.  Goooood luck!!!  If they can hang onto Boise State, may be a chance.

The Big East is scrambling right now to get back to ten.  I just do not see the Big East surviving.

The Big Least is going after Boise State, so where's the value in the MWC/CUSA merger?

I think this is going to end up in a Big East, C-USA, and Mountain West merger and purging of losers. JMO.  It will end up as 10-team Big East and Big West conferences with the winners playing in championship.  C-USA will be left with the losers to form a league.
