Is regarding Tennessee and Adidas vs. Nike. Hubbs mentioned today that Hart met with Adidas early on to get a feel for what was going on... obviously Hart comes from Bama and FSU, two Nike schools. Then I have read a couple of different rumors (by posters on boards, not by journalists) that both Dooley and Cuonzo Martin would prefer to have Nike rather than Adidas and that with new leadership in place that is more "Nike friendly" that both will try to push UT to abandon Adidas in favor of Nike when the current Adidas contract ends.

Of course Hubbs said that Adidas considers Tennessee a top priority and will do anything to keep them, but it bears watching if for no other reason than to see if there is anything to what is being whispered. (And, it would be funny to watch IncrediVOL react to the news since he made his house a 'Nike free' zone recently.)

I'm not a fan of Nike as a company, but I prefer their apparel and uniforms to Adidas. Of course there is the Nike machine that has always worked against us, especially on the basketball side, but having that on our side might not be such a bad thing.

Of course there is the "Pro Combat" uni thing with Nike... Georgia and Florida have been victimized by that... although the ones that LSU is wearing this year don't look bad and Alabama has been able to sidestep it.

I would honestly love it if Tennessee took a hard look at Under Armour. I like their gear a lot.

I'm with you on Under Armour

I have never been impressed with Adidas on the field gear or the stuff for the fans.  Nike would be a step up there but I like the gear at schools supported by Under Armour

I say bring it on. I'm ready for any new vibes in the UTAD, even if its simply new gear.

I think we have at least a couple of years left on our deal with Adidas.

I do not want any part of Nike's Pro Combat stuff, but their fan gear is sweet. Their sideline polos are the best out there.

That's the #1 reason why I would be opposed to Nike (that and the fact that I detest Nike on matters of general principle). I'm afraid UT wouldn't have strong enough willpower to say no to that horseshizzle.

I agree... that makes me hesitant.

fizzle Nike.

I'd sooner wear knockoff shizzle from Wal-Mart than any of the evil empire's crap.

I am not in favor of a move to Nike at all.  I don't like what they stand for, but just purely on a aesthetic grounds I much prefer Adidas. Ever pair of tennis shoes I have owned for the past 18 years has been Adidas.  This is not even mentioning the Pro Combat unis which are an abomination.

I echo the anti-Nike sentiment because I do not like Nike as a company. Their fan apparel is better, but I do not buy Nike. The only Mike at our house is one of my daughter's shoes which I did not buy for her. I prefer to buy at least partially made in the US shoes. New Balance is an option there.

I dislike Nike, but man would our bball recruiting improve.

More agin, than for, but sometimes in bidness and war you have to hold your nose and deal with people you don't like.
