a poor game day coach.  I was against this hire when it happened, I felt that we should have waited a little longer and perhaps we land a better coach.  I don't buy the argument that we had to act fast in order to save the recruiting class, I think that it would have been worth sacrificing a few recruits to get the right guy.  Having said that, I have supported Dooley and will continue to do so, because he is our coach, and we really can't afford to continue this game of musical coaches right now.  So basically IMHO, we are stuck with him for a couple of more years.

I don't think we had too many takers at the time. No coach that was any good wanted to come because of the F^&*wad Kiffin leaving at the 11th hour and the already thin roster. It may have set us back a decade.

I don't know yet if Dooley will get it done at UT. I do know this. We have to give him a few years to try to turn this program around. I havent seen UT this thin talentwise since the late 70s.

It doesn't help matters that UT's 2 best offensive players are hurt(Bray,Hunter). UT's best defensive player(Jansen Jackson) was kicked off the team and their best linebacker(Herman Lathers) hasn't played all year. Also Curt Maggitt didn't play last night.

This team wouldn't win much right now even if Nick Saban,Bob Stoops or Chip Kelly was coaching this team.

I like Dooley and am very happy with the hire.  This was a job no one wanted because of the reality of the talent black hole.  Dooley is a great pick for our school and will get it done.

we're in a situation where we have to hope he can get it done within the next 2 years. I hope he totally evaluates his staff and makes any needed changes at the end of the season

I think he has to have a chance to get his own recruits in place. The first year was a wash since he was only able to hold on to some of the Kiffin recruits and it's not fair to judge him on that class anyways. Lets do what we said we would do and give him his well deserved 4-5 years to see where we stand. I have a sneaky feeling we have a pretty fair coach that will serve us proud and it will be nice to not see our name scrolling across the ticker on ESPN (I hope it stays that way). I'm hurting like everyone else and not happy with the product and sometimes the effort on the field but it's going to take time.(edit: This in no way reflects on my sentiments nor comments during the game. I hereby reserve the right to completely change my mind during the next three years.)

I'm pretty disappointed in our staff right now in certain areas, but I do NOT think that Dooley is a mediocre recruiter. The lack of 5* and, to some degree, 4* recruits on our commit list is concerning to a point, but this staff seems to be getting the players they want. It would be different if we were getting spurned by a lot of guys we really wanted. So far, I think Dooley is holding his own from a recruiting standpoint.

We have had 3 crappy, crappy, crappy seasons in a row.... he savalged the Kiffin class and last year he pulled in a good class that is still intact.  This year we have 9 4-stars committed.  I think he has done an AMAZING job recruiting.

I am also happy with recruiting.

I am not happy with some of the coaching I have seen this year, particularly the last couple of weeks.  Having to call 4 timeouts to get the right folks in, two false start penalties back to back to cost us a FG and possibly a shot at converting 4th down, the decision to put Worley in (which was panned in at least two places Sunday in the press), etc.

I just have not been impressed at all. It isn't all the players.

Having said that, I hope we settle down, beat MTSU like a mule, and get this thing back on track.  Dooley has till next season to do so.  If we see a repeat of this year, I don't know if he can even make it to 2013, though I think he deserves that shot.

There's no doubt that Dooley needs to produce a much improved product next year. If we have Bray, Hunter, Lathers healthy along with a much more overall experienced team, no reason our offense should not be humming next year, and our defense even more improved.

We, as everyone knows are freshmen and sophmore loaded. These kids are going to be good. If we were just playing 3 to 4 of them I could get on board about Coach Dooley. But we are not just relying on 3 or 4, more 16 to 17. You can't cover up that many freshmen. Now 2012-2013 we are in the same shape? That's a different story, but we are we're we are. We have played top teams and hung around awhile. We as a fanbase must have PATIENCE! It ain't pretty right now, but it will get better! This ain't the drive thru at McDonalds!

Our HC and OC need to get their shizzle togather on offense...................................They could've given Worley some much simpler throws to get and keep him going.  #1.  Why not roll him out some...play action, #2. Screen passes, #3. Reverses and endAround's, #4 D. Young a back that actually has some speed to use sparringly..........and actually give him the ball instead of just faking it too him............NOT Cheney's style?........well his style/scheme ain't cutting against mediocre opponets.........JMHO.

I think Vandy has a good chance to beat us this year, and they are playing pretty good on offense against teams that kicked ouR ASSES................they have a first year coach and no talent, so.......................how does that compare to our staff and team???.........It just reaLLY PISSES ME OFF................WE ARE TENNESSEE...............................at least we used to be.

I see your point and agree, but I am still not getting a warm fuzzy about our staff.  I have two concerns.

First, play the cards you are given.  They may suck, but play them well.  Not sure we're doing the best job even with the limitations we have in talent and depth.  I am and will continue to be patient on this one.  Trust me, Dooley has into well next season with me and (I think) the majority of our fans.  I just don't like some of the things I have seen is all.

Second, do you make the decisions you make to help the team or make yourself look good?  Let me just say I have my doubts in this area and leave at that.
