I don't think Lane is exactly an ethical coach and therefore not the coach for UT, but I don't see him as the antichrist. I have no doubt that he has contributed ultimately to the downfall of the program. However, I would only assign 25% to him and the rest to Fulmer. And that doesn't mean that I think Fulmer was horrible. He just let the program get away from him. Kiffin came in and showed that Fulmer was squandering talent. Personally, I do think Lane can coach. His mercenary attitude wasn't entirely apparent in the beginning, so I can't fault his hire. I do think Dooley is doing a good job. I just hate that we couldn't have had a smoother transition to another coach after Fulmer. That we had to go through a hire like Lane Kiffin and then to Dooley (who may work out after all).
I agree with this. I also agree with others who think that the program would've been in major NCAA hot water if Lane had stayed.
I don't think Dooley is going to work out though. We have the talent to win 8 or more games this year, but there's always something bubbling in his locker room... right now there is talk that Da'Rick is suspended for spring practice due to a run-in with McKeefery. I think Dooley is a good man and a really smart guy but I don't think he has what it takes to run an SEC program. I think we are going to underachieve this year and we'll be welcoming a new coach this time next year and my money would be on Kirby Smart.
