Georgia running back Isaiah Crowell was arrested Friday morning and charged with two felonies and a misdemeanor, according to the Athens-Clarke County Jail Booking report.
Crowell was charged by ACC Police on a felony count of weapon in a school zone, a felony count of altered ID mark and misdemeanor count of possession/carrying a concealed weapon. He was booked at 3:37 a.m. and bond was set at $7,500.
Major Mike Shockley of the ACC Police said early Friday the report was still being worked on and was unable to give more details.
Crowell has had some troubles during his time at UGA. He was benched for the first quarter of the Vanderbilt game on Oct. 15 for unknown reasons, and sat out the entire game against New Mexico State on Nov. 5 while on suspension after reportedly failing a drug test.
"It's been a lot of ups and downs," he said at the time. "I'm gonna remember the mistakes I made, the good things I did. All I've got to stay in my mind is to keep working hard and be the best teammate and person I can be."

"ACC Police"?  Aren't they out of their jurisdiction, arresting an SEC player?

ACC police were used to ensure that the SEC player wouldn't get beat.

Even though he plays for a rival, it's a shame to see another talented kid jeopardize a promising future because of bone-headed off the field activities.

It would seem there are a lot of similarities to the basketVOLS stop and arrest a couple of years ago.  We'll see how this arrest turns out and also if anything happens to the other FOUR pup players in the car with him.

Crowell was dismissed from the team today by CMR.  He will have to pursue his football career elsewhere.

I am not seriously suggesting we pick him up.  This does bring up a serious question though.   If a player is kicked off, does the one-year transfer rule apply?

My understanding of that is that if a player is on schollie, he is under contract to the school.  In this case, the school broke the contract (albeit with cause).

In that case, I wonder if the rule applies?  I suspect the NCAA makes a player kicked off for behavior sit out as punishment if nothing else, but Crowell is certainly free from any contract with uga.

My gfuess is the one year rule still applies since it was his wrongdoing that essentially "voided" the contract. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes the 1-AA route, then maybe try to make his way back to 1-A. Or stay 2 years at 1-AA and try to go to the NFL.
