Serious question. South Carolina? Even though they beat Georgia, I'm not inclined to think so. The Missouri team that just lost to Indiana last week? The Florida team that appears to be on the verge of imploding? The Kentucky team that could only muster 17 points against Vandy today?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting that the East is Tennessee's to take. That would be a pretty foolish statement. Playing at a high level week-in and week-out in the SEC is tough, and I think that Tennessee played at a high level today, despite a few critical mistakes that ultimately cost us the game. I think we lose at least two more SEC games even in a best-case scenario (Alabama and Ole Miss), and I'm not at all ready to say that a best-case scenario is going to play out. Minus Auburn, UGA has a fairly easy road the rest of the way.

On the other hand, if Tennessee wins today, how many talking heads are putting the Vols squarely in the hunt for the SEC East title?

That's how close we are.
