Not sure how long the process should take.

There was a story at GoVolsXtra earlier in the week.

The current grand jury dismissed after Tuesday without the case being presented to them.  Their term is over.

A new grand jury will be seated in early January, which means that the case can't be presented to them until after that time.

Bottom line:  AJ's UT career is over, neither he nor Williams will play in the bowl game.

AJ Johnson's Tennessee career was likely over the moment the young lady stepped forward to accuse him of assaulting her. But that doesn't change the fact that the delays in these proceedings suck. It isn't just this case but many others like it: the wheels of justice turn way too slowly. There is absolutely no reason prosecutors could not have presented this case to the grand jury before it adjourned for the term.

I'll trust Butch who suspended them.  If there was nothing to it, they would have told Butch that and they would still be on the team.

Uh, no.  In these cases you have to let the authorities handle it, particularly with all the NFL stuff going on.  Had he let them play, the outcry would have been ridiculous, and certainly not worth it.

Even if the charges are dismissed, at a minimum they put themselves into a situation where this sort of accusation could be made and that showed poor judgement.
