here in the Dakota's. There are 18 year old kids making $150,000 a year. One came into my office today with a 2014 Vette that is bought and paid for. This is a problem with a lot of American industry and manufacturing. It's easy to see why it is cheaper to buy oil from abroad instead of drilling here.

A big reason for the high salaries in the oil fields is the inherent risk that comes with the job. In North Dakota, the fatality rate in the oil fields is 75 per 100,000 workers. That's 3 times the average fatality rate across all industries.

If that's the case I think it's highly atypical. The data is a few years old but this article has some BLS information on various oil field jobs, and none of them are anywhere near $150k:

It's largely job-dependent. I have a 23-year-old cousin who works in the Pennsylvania fracking industry and she hauls in 6 digits. Her father (retired USMC) works in the same fields and doesn't make nearly as much.

Yeah, they make good, but I've heard it's typically about half that amount.

Of course, an 18 year old kid would never exagerate his salary, so it must be true.

I have a 20 year old kid who rents from me. He drove up to my office in a 2014 Stingray. He drives a semi in the oil fields and he makes 125k+. If you have a CDL and can drive a big rig you can name your price. I don't care what your web-site says.
