know why I thought they would be very competitive. Why can Vandy get the players we only dream of nowadays? Is our coach competent?

He had a massive rebuilding job to do....but in year 4 we should be better. Hitting has been the issue for the most part. Plus some of his recruits have gone pro. He might need to rethink his recruiting process. You want to recruit these type kids but if they never show up it hurts the program.

A guy who really is in touch with the baseball Vols told me the program was in bad, bad shape.

The season has been a disappointment on the whole...but this thread on a night when the Vols beat No. 23 Mizzou to run the winning streak to 3?  

Hitting has been mystifying at times, and fielding has been just flatly awful most of the way. Pitching has been spotty. But UT took 1 of 3 from Florida and Vandy — both of them Top 5 teams. Won the series at Ole Miss last weekend. The only SEC series that has been a complete disaster was Georgia. That was an embarrassment, but IMO the team has been pretty solid since then. On the verge, I think.
