This has to be the fastest rebuild of a minor league system ever.  They went from arguably the dead last less than a year ago, to #2 overall, according to Keith Law's newest rankings this week.  And the trade deadline is still a week away, so they're probably not done.

But there's only 3 position players among their top 10 prospects, and one of them is only 18 years old, at the low-A level, and probably still at least a couple years away.  They're going to have to trade some of this huge glut of pitching depth at some point.

Geez.  I love pitching and defense, but you can't win games even holding the opposition scoreless unless you score at least a run yourself.

Clearly, they're aiming for a run in 2017, when they open the new stadium.  I'm guessing they'll trade some of these guys for some big bats after next season.  Mallex Smith and Jose Peraza should be ready for 2016 (if not sooner), but they're still going to need two more outfielders and a 3B.  Maybe a catcher too, if they've already given up on Bethancort.  Maybe they can convert Peraza to an OF if Albies makes it up sooner than expected?

Absolutely agree. 2017 is the "target" year, but it would be nice to see some signs that there are actually bats in the dugout to be used.

And how long before Freddie Freeman is traded, too?

Freddie's not going anywhere.  He just signed an 8 year extension last year, and at a relatively team-friendly salary, to boot.  They're going to build around him and Simmons.  But you'll almost certainly see AJ Pierzynski and Chris Johnson moved this week.  And while they have said that Markakis isn't on the market (he still has 3 more years under contract), you have to think that if someone blows them away with an offer, he could go too.  Grilli getting hurt was a big blow, as he almost certainly would have been traded and would have brought a ton in return.

And I've heard that they're actually listening to offers for Tehran.  Stay tuned- it's going to be an interesting week.
