I thought the East was rebuilding, but now I'm not so sure.

Whatever the case, the prospects for the Vols next year look pretty bright.  Pinkel and SOS out, Uga really struggling and UF nowhere near as good as their record.

We have to beat Vandy first, but this offseason will be the most interesting to me in a long time.

i was backing UGA, a loss would have resulted in Richt being run out of town

Still a pretty good chance that will happen.  In fact, this could be the biggest offseason ever for coaching turnover in the SEC.  SOS and Pinkel are already out.  Richt and Miles are on thin ice.  Mahlzan might be too, especially if he gets blown out against bammer next week.  Texas could make a run at Saban (and if they do, I think they'll get him this time).  Freeze and Mullin are always rumored to be going somewhere.  Both lose a lot of key players, so if they're going to make a move, there's no better time than now.

Not too hard to imagine a scenario where literally half the SEC has new coaches next year.

IMO and it was even said on ESPN this morning that it's dumb for SEC teams to be scheduling cupcakes this type of year. Play them early in the season and get them over with. Cupcakes are motivated.....the teams that are expected to win by 30 aren't.

Just about every team in the SEC (except for us) has a major rivalry game against a historically tough opponent next week, and so they all try to schedule these games to "rest up" the week before.  It's been known as "Cupcake Saturday" in the SEC for several years now.  Yesterday was actually better than it has been recently: at least we had LSU/OM and MSU/Arky.  I'll bet the SECN had something to do with that.
