He's just improving by leaps and bounds with each game, making big plays, and you can already see him becoming a leader.  I think he has the potential to be our best MLB since some guy named Al.

And in hindsight, what would our record be if we had gotten this kind of production out of the MLB position early in our schedule?

He made a play in pass coverage last night he would not have made before the bye week.  LB play across the board hurt us in early games in zone coverage.
JRM still is not that good in coverage but he has improved (the difference between he and Kirtland in pass coverage night was not small)

Not part of your topic but one other key difference now vs early in the season was last night they went in for a TD.  In the next series Jancek dialed up the pressure and forced a punt.  Jancek has been much more agressive since the break.  He also is playing the young guys more, Austin Smith got some extended PT last night for example.  Berry was brought in a safety in a couple of key situations.

If TK and Berry can handle safety the defense has the potential to be damn good next year.

With the good ones there comes a point in where they go from transitioning from a prospect to a player and the "light bulb" comes on.  Looks like it has come on for Kirkland.  He's a totally different player than he was just a few weeks ago.
