Kivon Bennett, 4 star DT commits to the Vols. He is the son of former Bama LB Cornelius Bennett.

Had offers from everyone.

Curious, why the "boom?" Other than an apparently good prospect whose father played for the Crimson Tide, what's the significance of this commitment that draws such exuberance?"

Got offers from just about all of the top programs in the country is a pretty good indication the kid is pretty good, IMO.

Also....if we keep him it will be a big shock IMO.

My brother-in-law played LB along side Cornelius in HS. One spring in a drill "Biscuit" literally knock him out...cold.

Alabama wanted him. He's an Alabama legacy recruit. Alabama didn't get him.

No further explanation needed.

Really?   But I personally do think he's an excellent prospect. According to reports today, supposedly he moves well and has gained the necessary weight he needed this spring. I had read nothing on him before today.

I trust the DNA, and his cousin (also a Bennett from B'ham) was one of the greatest players at WR Vandy ever had.

Getting a 4 star DT is always a boom, regardless of his lineage.

It is hard to believe that the top-notch program he comes from....having offers from most all the top programs in the country, he isn't right now in the top 400 recruits in the country. I'm sure he'll move up.
