Those are based all on imperfect media votes, but some observations.

1. No offensive players on the first team.   Honestly, only Hurd is a legit candidate.  I personally would put him ahead of Chubb, but I  can't complain about Chubb too much.  If not for Chad Kelly, Dobbs would be a first team lock.  If Dobbs were not no. 2 something would be wrong.
2. No OL on first or second teams.  Not good.  Hopefully by the end of this season we will move some guys up.
3. Three defensive players on first team, and they all obviously deserve it.  No other defensive players in the 2nd or 3rd teams confirms that defensive depth is an issue.

The first two together make me wonder if our offense as a whole is more experienced  than talented.

Hopefully we will move up in these rankings in the postseason after having a banner year.

It's nice to have 9 names on that list and be able to legitimately complain about not being properly represented.

Also Carl Lawson: 1st team. LMAO. Anybody looked at his stats? He also got more votes than Barnett, which is really, truly hilarious.

Lawson: 37 tackles, 10.5 for loss, 5 sacks in 18 games
Barnett: 142 tackles, 33 for loss, 19 sacks in 26 games

If it's just based on past performance (and all preseason teams are, by definition), then yeah, it's BS.  But as for the upcoming season, I would surprised if Berry even gets 5 chances.  Nobody is going to kick it to him.  Fortunately, we have Kamara, Sutton, and others to put back there with him, and they're just a capable of taking it to the house.  When kicking off to UT, you'd better hope you can put it through the back of the endzone.  Otherwise, it's pick your poison: put it in the hands of a bonafide homerun threat, or kick it short/out of bounds.  I see us starting a lot of drives at the 40 this year.

The fact that Barnett got the fewest votes of any first team DL (and was only 4 votes away from second team) is a joke.  I can't remember any great UT player who got less respect than DB.

They look at Lawson and Garrett and they see guys who are freak athletes, and people love to jump all over that. At least Garrett has produced.

Barnett just gets it done without all the insane measurables. Just not sexy, I guess.

Abernathy is no slouch (check out his speed in staying front of Berry at KY last year)
The reality is that our blocking is so improved that we could pretty much put anyone with good speed back there

Barnett and Garrett get compared to each other all the time.  Garrett has a few more sacks, but is essentially worthless against the run.  Barnett is a true three-down player.  Plus, the vast majority of Garrett's numbers have come outside of SEC play.  Barnett has consistently been at his best in the biggest games.

Abernathy's hustle blocking is truly impressive. Berry not getting 1st team is insane.
