The pick-a-nicknames are laying the wood to them 49-3 with over 12 to play

Meanwhile, MSU and the cats are dialing a friend on the plains looking for some points

SEC EAST flat sucks......Worst the East has been since we went to 2 divisions. It's why it will be a dang shame for us not to win the East this year but are hoping for Florida to lose a game. Don't see UGA doing it....don't see Ark doing it....our only hope I'm afraid is LSU. Neither of the 3 teams will score much on Florida's defense. Our luck for the East to be so bad and we played the 2 best teams from the West.

If we can't win the East this season.....I don't know when we can to be honest.

East is currently winless against the West.  That has never been true at season's end in the history of the SEC divisional format.  But hold on...Kentucky is leading MSU in the 4th quarter.   Kentucky...defender of the East's honor.

I think Arkansas just had a really bad day today, and could still beat UF if they don't quit on the season.   Uga might get them, but LSU almost certainly will.

We will just have to sit back and see.

As for future prospects of winning the SECCG, I think we may have another good shot in 2018, almost definitely in 2019 and i would not even rule out next year.  As you point out, the East is down.  Where is it going to improve?

Muschamp at USC jr?  Uhm, excuse me.

That was really funny

Smart at uga?  It is just his first season, but I think that program is going to be down a few years and then they find a new coach.

Donkey face?  Maybe.  He's an upgrade over Muschamp (but who isn't?), and he's a good coach, but he doesn't strike me as a great coach, or a coach anywhere near the caliber of Urban or SOS.   Florida with Donkey feels like a perennial "almost" team, a team we soundly beat this year and may be able to dominate for a few years.

I was a bit scared of Mizzou, they looked good for a game or two, but now they just look pitiful.

Vandy and Kentucky will be Vandy and Kentucky, though it's worth pointing out that both are better than they typically are.

I just don't see a whole lot of obstacles to the Vols competing year in and year out for the SEC East the next few years.

I will give one caveat....Butch has to keep recruiting as well as he has.  If he does that, we have a shot at the East for the next 2-4 years IMO.

And let me add....if we get a couple SEC East championships under our belt, a W in the SECCG will come. Look at the confidence and swagger of this team in almost all our SEC games this year (bammer the painful exception).  That sort of winning attitude will continue to build, and we will start beating bammer also.  Mark it down.

Right now our recruiting isn't all that much....it better pickup....Finishing above 16th ain't going to cut it in the SEC. Right now around 22 with 24 commits.

It may end up there, but currently we are 8th on rivals.  I understand other teams might pick up a few commits and pass us, but if we manage to stay in the top 10 I'm happy. Top 5 is better of course.

Speaking of recruiting, I keep hearing that Clemson is stealing our recruits.  I checked, and currently they have two 4 star WRs from the local area, one from Knoxville and another from Oak Ridge.  Well that stings, but we hardly need WRs in this recruiting class IMO.   They also have a 4 star RB from Memphis.  Now, that suxes, but when have we ever had any pull in Memphis?

A funny thing about Clemson...they only have one SC kid and he's their sole 3 star.  A token home state player, I guess.

Didn't realize they pulled from so many different states.

We are 8th because we have several more commits than most schools.....Out player rating isn't all that...Plain and simple. Butch better cull some or we will finish worse than last years class and that's not going to get it done to compete against the top 1/4th of the SEC. He better cull and get some top targets.

I know.  I said as much above.  Still lots of time to signing day though.
