This is not a big surprise. Since Tyndall is a little guy and not Penn State, UNC, etc. (NCAA media darlings), what would you expect. Tyndall (although IMO he is guilty) was convicted in the eyes of NCAA based on the testimony of an assistant that admitted that he cheated, said Tyndall told him to do it, was allowed to give evidence/testimony in exchange for immunity, and was allowed to take another NCAA job without penalties. Boy that is sweet. Lie, cheat, break the rules, blame your boss, and get off Scott free; The American way. UNC can commit academic fraud on a massive institutional scale to keep players eligible (documented by an independent person) and NCAA keeps turning a blind eye. If you are an NCAA poster boy making $millions for NCAA, they will not punish you. But by god have a BBQ for recruit and lie about it, all hell is brought to bare. Make hundreds of illegal calls and let your assistant take the fall is OK. Looking the other way while your players cheat to remain eligible is only worth 9 games. If you are a beloved coach, no show cause; just a slap on the wrist.

So yes, 10 year show cause penalty seems fair if you know Tyndall is not a likeable guy and media darling. Make yourself look tough. Pearl better watch out to. They may come back and put him on double secret probation.

That seems excessive.
