As long as Geno is at UConn everybody else is playing for 2nd place. He would have taken the talent Holly had this year and still would be in the Final Four. He demands and coaches perfection and gets it from his players. They know that when they sign the dotted line to go to play for him.

Geno would've taken the talent Holly had this year and probably have won the national championship...unless he ran into this UConn team. But if Geno had UT's talent, obviously this UConn team wouldn't be intact.

It pains me to no end to have to admit that Geno is the greatest women's basketball coach of all time...probably THE greatest basketball coach of all time, period. Pat busted through all the glass ceilings and paved the way for Geno; without Pat, it's probable that Geno would've not be where he is right now. But it's impossible to deny his accomplishments. Maybe if Pat hadn't gotten sick, Geno wouldn't be dominating the game the way he is. But she did, and he is, and he'll win as many national titles as he wants to, because he's obviously nowhere close to quitting.

I think Miss St just answered that question. And to win after the BS flagrant 1 call probably made it more sweet.

Down goes UConn.

Great game!!! You could tell most of these UConn girls haven't been in this position before replacing 4 out of 5 starters from last season.....They did things tonight that UConn usually doesn't do. Plus...the SEC grind is a hell of a lot more than the conference UConn plays in.

Congrats Miss State!! And great job by the State coach.

Don't get me wrong, I hate UCONN and I'm thrilled they lost but I'm seeing alot mentioned about the call.  It was a pretty dramatic acting job...but isn't any contact above the shoulders automatically a flagrant 1?

The SEC is going to win the Women's Championship

To demonstrate how far Holly has drug down the Lady Vols, they went out in the 2nd round

It's hard to believe that this will be the first SEC team not named Tennessee to win this thing.  There has been some great WBB played in this league over the years, but we're the only team to have won it all.

And for the "if ya fire Holly, who ya gonna get?" crowd, there are two names you can start with.  We're Tennessee.  In this sport, we can get damn near anyone we want.

Not sure Vinnie, but if that's the rule then it's ridiculous imo.  I thought it had to be the face but I don't know. Inconsequential contact to the neck and head happens a lot and it would seem to me that there would be a lot more flagrant fouls.

I thought that Geno would have had them take the last shot in the OT on the possession after the flagrant free throws. They couldn't have run the clock to zero, but they could have taken it inside 2 seconds I thought.

Btw, we played three of the Final Four this year, and went 3-1 against them, with two of those wins coming on the road.  So the notion that we don't have enough talent to compete at the highest level is pretty much debunked.  All of our big 3 are back next year, and we have the top class in the country coming in.  With the right coach, we can do big things.  I don't think Holly is that coach.

That was the plan....Geno even said in postgame that was the plan...take it down deep enough in the clock that if the first shot is missed have enough time for a rebound and put back but no time left for Miss State. He said his player just got impatient and shot too quick. It's what I posted above......UConn did things last night that experienced UConn teams just don't do.

They showed a stat last night that last years UConn team had 24 starts combined in Final Four games.....this team last night had 3 combined starts.

Didn't see the PC. Good info. Thanks

It totally didn't make sense to me that he didn't have that set up after the review timeout

Yes the coaching performance has been atrocious. No excuse for that given the program is one of the top two in the country if not the top.

Fire Geno now!
