According to what I am told by those VERY close to him, I would be surprised if he doesn't end up at either South Carolina or Auburn.

Blackman is going to be loaded this fall, by the way.  They have 5 guys with power 5 offers at this point.  Just had a QB transfer in from Davidson Academy with a big time arm.  QB was the "missing link" offensively, if you will, for Blackman.  Coach David Watson's offense is going to be something special.  Defensively they won't be quite as good, but with an offense as potent at his should be, Watson may not have to be great on defense.

Wouldn't shock me to see Blackman at Maryville in the semifinals on Thanksgiving weekend.

And an edit:  Teague was the best skill position player I saw live last year, and I saw a ton of good players live.  And besides being a great football player, he is a terrific kid and student.

What would be the reason this kid would go elsewhere and not stay home in Tennessee? Just curious.

What would be the reason this kid would go elsewhere and not stay home in Tennessee? Just curious.

Several reasons - not a "Tennessee" family (Dad played at and mother graduated from MTSU), relationships with coaches, opportunity to get on the field early on, "comfort level" of the campus, are some of those that I have been told are in play.  Character of those he would be surrounded with are also important, again, according to what I have been told.

Part of the UT issue is that they pretty much ignored him for a long time, while South Carolina and a couple of other schools have been on him the longest.  Plus UT went through several different "primary" recruiters until Walt Wells was hired and became the lead recruiter for him.  I am told that the family just never connected with UT coaches until Wells was hired.

And my contact says hat UT isn't out of it, but only that they are behind the others I mentioned.  There is ample work to be done.
