Alabama snapped UT's defensive scoreless streak of 71 quarters. UT still won the game 27-12. UT had not allowed a point since October 29, 1938.

Ah, good times.

And no, I was not at the game.

The Vols radio network wasn't established until 1949. The first announcer was Lindsey Nelson. Before that it seems that different announcers called the games for various radio stations.

Those of us listening to the game in 1940 did so by receiving Morse Code.

I use to drink coffee at the local café with a fine gentleman that played on those teams. He died over 20 years ago and he could tell some stories.
