indicated to me that FCBJ did NOT handle the firing well, as Currie initially said with the "professional" term.  The response was far more curt than required, which indicates to me that it was not a fun morning. He also said it was "silly" to bring up things like FCBJ calling recruits after he was fired.

All men dream: but not equally.
Those who Dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds
Wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the
Dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they
May act their dream with open eyes, to make it Possible.
This I did.

But...if Butch is actively calling recruits and encouraging them to go elsewhere (as opposed to just feeling obligated to let them know personally), and it's actively hurting recruiting, then the AD could threaten to reopen negotiations on his buyout clause.  If his contract doesn't say something about not damaging the university while being paid out by it, then it's not worth the paper it's written on.  And the University need not actually act on anything, just the threat should be enough to shut him up.

I say this partly because something similar happened with Kiffin.  In that case though, the University's response was closer to extortion to release past misdeeds to the public, since there was no buyout leverage due to Kiffin leaving voluntarily.  I'm okay with borderline extortion with that d-bag though.

IMO Butch knows this was his shot at the big time and failed. Like Dooley who got his shot and failed and neither Botch or Dooley will head coach a major P5 school again.
