And as for Campbell, it's more intuition with me.  He just seems to fit the mold of Petersen.  Petersen first got national attention by whipping OU in a bowl game when he was at Boise State.  To his credit, he did continue to win big games long after that.

But...Campbell also did well at Toledo.  Now, I can already hear you and a huge chorus as others brainlessly chanting in unison that Toledo is another MAC school.

To which I reply I find Campbell's success at Toledo more impressive than what Butch did at CMU.  Campbell turned around a losing program.  Butch inherited a winner from Brian Kelly and just kept it going.   Big difference IYAM.

I agree that a longer track record of Campbell at ISU would be better.  But he does remind me of Peterson, and might even have less talent than Petersen did at Boise State.  I'm very impressed. 

Is he a flash in the pan?  Maybe. I'd be willing to take that chance though.

Butch did fine in the MAC. He didn't dominate, and that was a concern.

Campbell would be fine in my book.
