He was kind of like Fischer. Decent coach, but the game has passed him by offensively. Old school offenses struggle but some coaches are stubborn and won't change. I was afraid they would retain him because they beat the Chiefs. Just like Jones would win bowl game so they would keep him around another year. But you knew he would get no better.

GM said he could stay if he made changes in staff, likely offensive line and QB, maybe OC. When Mularkey said no, he was let go. Now maybe they can hire coordinators that know what the NFL has turned into and can run a 2018 team rather than 1998 team.

The offense is/was awful and MM was never going to be more than a average QB under that system. Malarkey in his Sunday presser saying he thought things were ok and the OC was doing a good job and he wasn't going to make any changes got him fired and should have. The question is who are the Titans going to get? Rumor has been going around for a couple of weeks that the GM who came from New England wants McDaniel's.....but the NFL talking heads are saying he's headed to the Colts after the playoffs?
