They've said that a few times now.  I'll believe it when I see it.

Hearing they're going to replace him with Al Wilson.  I approve.

I think this is why it has taken so long.  They don't want to do anything until they decide what to replace it with - and they want to get it all done in one operation.

That is, without a doubt,  the best idea I've ever heard here.

Al and Jonathan Brown used to be our neighbors when we lived right across the river in South Knoxville. In fact, you can probably now see his picture on the jumbotron from his old apartment.

How can they not have Peyton on there? Now that is a no-brainer.

I wish they had put up a video capture of Al right before he almost decapitated the UF QB in the 98 OT - that was one look I never want to see up close and I person.

Doug Johnson (aka "Duhg"), just about the worst QB of the SOS era, but had a big enough head he didn't realize that.  That we managed to lose to his mediocre arse in 1997 is attributable to Chavis.  They scored 5 TDs.  One on an int return, 3 on 3rd and 10, and the 4th on 4th and 10.  Chavis rushed 3 and dropped 8 into coverage. Every.  Single.  Time.

But as you point out, he did learn his lesson the next season, leading to, among other nice things, the aforementioned near decapitation of Mr. Johnson.

Two things about the pick 6 in the swano:
1) it was right after a sure TD is flat dropped
2) that is the loudest I have heard any stadium, anywhere (I was dead center behind the North goal posts, 13th row, or dead center of the UF student section)

It was Jesse Palmer, not Doug Johnson

Nope, it was good ole Dougie.

Can't find a box score, but here is a youtube that calls Doug out by name at the beggining.  What I recall best is a picture of him pointing to the scoreboard at some point in the game.  Which made his whining after the 1998 game even better.

Ah. Well Johnson did play in that game, as SOS was alternating them at the time.

http://www.nytimes.com/1998/09/20/sports/college-football-tennessee-beats-florida-to-end-long-waiting-game.html

So it was Palmer who took the hit.

But I am 100% sure Johnson whined after the game, I'll never forget that.

There were a lot of heros in that 98 game but Al Wilson was a MAN among boys in that game.  Without a doubt I believe he willed the team to victory
