I'm trying to avoid criticizing the coaching, because we all now this ship isn't going to be righted overnight. Patience is a must right now, and Pruitt is brand-new to this thing so he's going to endure some growing pains.

But I'd like to have lunch with JP this week just so I could ask him what the heck he was thinking when he inserted Keller Chryst on the final possession of the first half.

Even if you're trying to kill clock and get to the locker room, I don't think you bring an ice-cold QB into the game in that situation. But Tennessee apparently wasn't trying to kill clock; Pruitt raced onto the field to call a timeout on the third down play with 1:53 left so that he could preserve clock. So Tennessee's going to run its two-minute offense, right? Nope. Chryst comes off the bench, and we run two handoffs, then an incomplete pass before punting the ball back to UTEP with time still on the clock.

All I could do was sit and shake my head. It was just a mind-numbingly dumb sequence.

Agree, that made no sense whatsoever.
