I'm almost of the opinion that instant replay should just be trashed.

At least when a call is missed in real time you can chalk it up to human error. To watch that OT play in slow motion video, from any angle, and rule it incomplete is totally absurd.

Looked like a TD to me. With it called a TD on the field I was surprised it was overturned.

Ole Miss had already qualified for a bowl, Vandy had not.

I am half serious.

The good news for our game is that the league doesn't probably care which team wins, they get another bowl either way.

I understand your reasoning, but Ole Miss ain't going bowling this season - regardless of record - self imposed ban IIRC.

It is really sad that their is even any possibility of the league actually using tactics like these to affect the outcomes of games.

Not that the black helicopter theories about the SEC office doing odd things to protect teams are true But one has to wonder about that call.....If Vandy lost that game they were out of the bowl picture....And if Vandy beats us we are out and the SEC would lose a bowl team.

There is no way IMO after seeing that replay at least 30 times over the weekend that wasn't a catch. I haven't seen or heard a talking head say it wasn't a catch either.

Even if we beat Vandy and they go 5-7, they can probably still go bowling with the APR rule. We probably can't.

I don't really believe that a conspiracy is the basis for that call (or maybe its just that I don't want to believe it).  That theory is definitely circulating on the interweb, however.  I try to stay away from the conspiracy aspect of it all.  Its not that I don't think its possible, its just that it is so distasteful if that is what is actually occurring that I really want it to not be true.  In the end, though, for most things you can follow the money trail and end up with the correct answers, so it is definitely plausible.

Also, just to give the league office their due, Shaw made a statement that the call was correct.  A receiver must maintain control, he said, throughout complete contact with the turf and therefore the pass was incomplete.  I say, BS; just giving Shaw's response.

Incidentally, I either read or heard this weekend that the Big 10 uses independent sources to do replay review for their league.  I don't know if that is true or not, but it would definitely be a good idea imo.

I saw a article a couple of weeks ago that said they don't believe there will be any 5-7 teams in bowls this year....I guess that could change.

True.  I realized that after I posted, but it doesn't change the fact that a win could get Vandy bowl eligible.

Hopefully that's true.  In which case the refs will favor us.
