Hubbs confirms that it is to be formally announced tomorrow. Great hire, I think.

Word is Kirby backed off and we upped the ante.

I'm sure the Dawgs will say they didn't want him anyway.

So on the last 13 months we've hired Bama's DC and UGA's OC.   Not bad!

I'm sure that you're in the know given your smug comment, so do tell, I'm totally curious what knowledge you have. I'm 100% certain that you're completely different than your garden variety college football fan and you sit in the daily staff meetings after practice.

or maybe its because UGA will always be UGA, a team that has it's once every other decade successful season that gets the dwag nation frothing at the mouth only to be followed by several choke artist performances, and Chaney recognized it and bailed.

UGA upped the ante......we upped it more. Chaney was truly happy here the first time and is very glad to be returning. He wasn't happy with Smart when he took the QB position away from him.

In all seriousness... Makes sense for Kirby not wanting to pay Chaney what we were when he's got Coley waiting in the wings.  But you saw what promoting a hotshot recruiter to a coord position just to keep him did for Saban and Tosh.  It's not a sure thing at all.

I'll take Chaney all day long and call it good.

Now Pruitt has an experienced OC he trusts, that he can learn from too.  JG has a QB coach that's seen it all and done it all.  Chaney nearly doubled his pay.  Win.

Chaney is a terrific hire. He can get too cute, but so could Cutcliffe.

Still talk of adding Tee to this staff.  Price says we talked to him today.  Talk about staff upgrades.

I'm not here to be a smart-alleck. That's a fact. Just stopped by to see what folks were thinking about it. First off- I loved Pruitt as a coach at UGA, and was happy for him to get the UT job. I will always be indebted to him, because he helped certain folks see that it was time for Richt to go. My guess is that Pruitt wants Chaney for the same reason Kirby wanted him at a similar point in his career. At the same time, I think Kirby is happy to part company with him now and try something different. Like I said, it's all good for everyone involved, including Chaney. I can certainly understand wanting to retire to E. TN someday....I hope to do the same thing before I kick the bucket. Anyhow- best of luck- I see nice things happening for UT soon.

You can probably tell we're starving for something good for the football program around here.

Visit and post more often... I remember the days when rivals posted here a lot more.  Good times.

That's a weird way of stepping into a thread if true, but yes, he's a great get for UT and I do agree that his move will benefit  UGA as well

Well, I got the feeling folks thought I was here to start trouble, just based on some of the responses I got. I am not. Certainly not. That isn't me...at least not for a long time, and I have no plans to be a rude guest, ever again.
