I had forgot about this, but the debut of the AAF is tonite on CBS with a couple of games - we are getting Sandiego Fllet vs San Antonio Commanders, I think.  Memphis @ Birmingham will be tomorrow at 4pm on the CBS Sports Network.  Here are the Vols that I could find who are in the AAF.....

MEMPHIS EXPRESS
34   Rajion Neal      RB   5-11   212 LBS   Tennessee
81   Alton "Pig" Howard   WR   5-8   186 LBS   Tennessee
67   Dallas Thomas      OG   6-5   314 LBS   Tennessee
98   Corey Vereen      DE   6-2   248 LBS   Tennessee
45   Colton Jumper      LB   6-2   228 LBS   Tennessee
33   Justin Martin      DB   6-1   195 LBS   Tennessee

ATLANTA LEGENDS
4   Matt Simms      QB   6-3   209 LBS   Tennessee

I loved the WFL and the USFL and even the XFL was fun - I enjoyed going to the LA Extreme games.  Seeing the Showboats and Reggie White playing in the Liberty bowl was just plain awesome.  I loved that.  This will not be that great, but It may be interesting.  Better than the NFL, at least, but that is not saying too much.

I went to several Showboats games and enjoyed it very much.  Buddy of mine I play golf with was a QB for the Showboats.

I'm going to have a very difficult time rooting for any team from Memphis, but it'll be hard not to with that many Vols on the roster.

I know no one gives it a chance, but I'm looking forward to the debut of the AAF. Watching the CBS pregame show right now.

We're getting Orlando and Atlanta. Orlando is coached by Steve Spurrier.

Matt Simms is playing for Atlanta. So is Aaron Murray.

No other players for UT on either team after a quick scan.

There are several UF players on the Orlando team.

The fact that he resides in the same city as a pro football team makes me really jealous of Penny Hardaway.

In the AAF draft the teams have the chance to draft players first who played in the geographical area...It's why Memphis has several players from UT...Memphis State...Ole Miss etc...Orlando got first dibs from players who played college ball in Florida.

Bruce Feldman pointed out that there were six former 5-star recruits playing in Sunday's Memphis-Birmingham game — the same number of former 5-star recruits as were playing in the Super Bowl a week earlier.

Further proof that stars don't mean a whole lot sometimes.

The games were pretty yawn inspiring and man, Memphis just suxes.  However I will be watching again this weekend.  I'm a little surprised how poor the QB talent was, or at least how poorly they performed.  The D's seem to have an initial edge.
