Kudos to Fulmer for pulling the trigger, though this should have never fallen to him.

Now let's see who he hires. If it's Walz, that's a homerun.

Glad that's finally done.  Kudos to Phil, like you said.

I expected nothing to happen till the men were done.  But, with the men going to Louisville and the UofL coach being rumored... You have to wonder if the timing lines up here.

Wish she could have been successful.   I would love to see Louusville coach come to knoxville... he's got talent waiting on him!

Our talent has to be a selling point, on top of the name brand obviously.

Just hope Walz isn't using us to get a raise.

With the success Walz has had at Louisville, he seems like the best possible hire. Given the name recognition and recruiting footprint of this platform, it's hard to imagine him not being successful here. He's making more than double what Holly was making...but since Holly was making under $700k, Tennessee is going to have to loosen the pursestrings no matter who they pursue.

Walz's comments when asked about the rumors connecting him to the UT job were interesting. He basically said the job is not open so there's no point in talking about it...which usually means, "I'm all ears."

One of the biggest puzzlers for me about Holly is how could she have been around Pat for so many years and acquire so little of Pats coaching style and traits?

As Ive alluded to before, this is the kind of mindset that Fulmer is up against:

So true. Holly proves that hiring from within is not always the right move. Makes it difficult to let them go when needed. Hiring someone from outside the Vol family brings a different and often more objective perspective. Sometimes we have our blinders on when hiring from within. I love all the ex Vol women basketball players... that doesn't mean many of them are ready to take over a program or can coach a lick.

I know her family well. She's just a hard-core political ideologist.

Pat was born with the traits that made he different. They are not learned. Few people have them.

Good point....Some are leaders and some are followers. Holly was put in a position that she wasn't ready for.

BTW, for everyone here (me included) who was worried that Fulmer's loyalty to his subordinates would be a fatal flaw as AD, this should go a long way towards allaying our fears. Because I would imagine that Fulmer was as loyal to Holly as anyone in the AD. He's known her for most of his adult life, and he was still able to do what had to be done.

I continue to think Fulmer is going to be an outstanding AD.  All indications so far are, he gets it.

The LVs program was/is bleeding....he didn't have much choice. He either watched what Pat built be destroyed or get it fixed....Attendance down from over 15,000 to around 9,200 on a good night and season ticket sales sinking every year....After she lost to a bad...sorry...pitiful Vandy team at home for the first time ever the only thing that would have remotely saved her was a deep run in the NCAA tourney which wasn't going to happen. Add the fact that what I was told a couple of pretty big LV money boosters had seen enough. Fulmer stepped up and did his job.
