Our one loss came in a close one to FSU. They beat Purdue the next day. And tonight, Purdue handed UVA their first loss in a 29 point blowout.

FWIW.

I'm currently going back and forth on this team. They played awful against fsu but still had a chance. Depth is what will bite them. If they had Plavsic, I'd be more confident they could play with anybody. Vescovi wouldn't hurt either. Haven't checked the box score from last night, but I doubt JJohnson did much of anything again. And so depth is ultimately going to get us.

It appears Olivier N. is going to be the 6th man, Gaines & Pember will be 7 & 8. Johnson only played 11 minutes & 2 points. Ain't going to happen with him.

I have watched Michigan play multiple games this season.  They have looked VERY impressive, and then they get the Cardinals - wow, Louisville flat out gets after you on the defensive end of the court.  That is the first that I had seen of UL, and I was really impressed.

UVA looked terrible last night.  Scoring was a real issue for them, and their defense wasn't what is normally expected from a Bennett group.  Maybe last night was their FSU moment?

Duke looked good against MSU the other day, but that same team gave up 64 points in the paint to Stephen F. Austin University!

I guess what I'm trying to say is: in today's college basketball world, you better bring your A game every night and on both ends of the court.  There are a lot of teams that on any given night can make you look bad.

Typical Barnes. He just needs to beat the teams he is supposed to beat. Whoever they are. Indiana just stomped FSU.

Typical Barnes.

Oh dear God. Rick Barnes has completely revitalized a program that wasn't just flat on its back -- it was coding.

Your take on sports is really weird.

Yep. Also, who’s to say that FSU is a team we’re “supposed” to beat? They have skill and size, and it was in their backyard. I expected to lose that game.

Believe it or not, it's very difficult to go undefeated in college basketball, mostly because there are a lot more games that something can go wrong in.

No team has done it since Indiana in 1976 (a golden memory for me personally).

https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2019-01-20/7-undefeated-college-basketball-national-champions-ncaa

UCLA did it four times, San Francisco did it once with Bill Russell, and UNC did it with back to back multiple overtime games in 1957, one of which was against Wilt Chamberlain when he was at Michigan State (I didn't actually know he went to MSU, hey learn something every day).

So it's not so easy to do.  But apparently that is your standard.

It really doesn't matter, what matters is the end of the season.  We will see how deep this year's Vols get, assuming they even make it.  Looks promising, but too early to say.

Tark ate 20 towels that season.

True.  I was counting the tourney.  Much harder to do with a tourney, you are forced to play really good teams.

Try since the earth was cooling after the Big Bang!  Barnes could go 40-0 and Volsboy would complain that their shorts were too loose and they could only hit 90% of their free throws!
