I'm not defending either side. Both sides are equally to blame for our woes.

I think you can FULLY, 100% blame China for our current woes.  We here in the US were doing great before some idiot at the Wuhan Lab let loose the man made virus that apparently the Chinese were NOT capable of studying safely.  Not only that, but while they blocked off the Wuhan province internally from the rest of CHina, they allowed international flights to flow freely in and out of Wuhan - OBVIOUSLY done on purpose to spread the virus.  Don't believe that?  The NYT wrote about the flights in late Jan.  Funny how NOBODY hardy even mentions this.  BUt yeah, this pandemic is nobody's fault but the Communist Party of China.  I guess you could also blame local officials in NY, NJ, and CT, because the numbers in their states are just flat out abysmal.  So bad that they pretty much caused a second wave in the SOuth later on.  Treating COVID patients in nursing homes was not just a bad idea, it was a criminal idea.   But here we are.  People whinge on and on about the 200,000 people dead, but they don't even know that less people in the US are going to die this year than died in 2019 or 2018.  Yep, go look it up.  It is amazing how the public is being played.  They real damage is not the 200,000 deaths, the real damage is the economic damage that is lurking just around the corner.  We have covered it up as best we could with band aid hand outs so far - but a reckoning is gonna come.  Count on it.  Oh, and before COVID 19, we were doing just fine.
