On one hand, he and his staff are currently in CA to visit Henry T, presumably to talk him out of transferring. This would seem to suggest that Pruitt is staying.

But then there's this:

Re: the Henry T trip - they are also picking up Steele along the way to go with them Update: [Trip was promised post Steele hire so so he could meet with Steele - I wouldn't put anything more into it]
Re: Bryce: whatever - his accuracy has been less than stellar since he left VQ
He also, still claims that Brumbaugh was fired on the sidelines, during the game
Pruitt met with the lawyers for around seven (7) hours yesterday.  I'm sure it was just a casual chat over beers

I can't imagine the powers at UT would let HC Pruitt and staff travel to CA to calm the waters with Henry T and then fire him over the next few days. That would be facilitating a lie to a player and their family. Hopefully he realizes he will get coached up by a top of the line LB coach in Steele.

Post Steele, pre-Steele it doesn't really matter to me. The issue is Pruitt heading out there to sell him on staying with the team to coached by Steele versus what he had last season. Fire him after this meeting will be difficult to explain to current and future recruits and if I was an opposing coach if this happened I would have every mom/dad questioning what the UT coaches were telling their sons.

JMO...I don't think you send a fired or about to be fired Pruitt across the country to re-recruit one of your best players. One of the first questions that To To and his family will ask....Are you going to be the coach of UT this coming season? You either say yes or no or you lie...Based on what I've heard is To To thinks a lot of Pruitt and the reason he's being re-recruited is to answer if Pruitt will be back....If the answer is no then the trip seems moot.

I don't think they know, till the high priced lawyers submit their report

Is there more than this? Is the LV's BB team going down too.

Maybe Pruitt is the reason he is transferring. Sending Pruitt might not be the right inducement to get him to return to Knoxville.
