...and any of those guys would've been solid hires. But Boyd/Plowman went out and got a guy not on anyone's radar, who (on paper anyway) is more accomplished than any of them. Now think about that. When is the last time we made a major athletic hire (HC in a major sport, AD) that actually exceeded everyone's expectations? I guess maybe Barnes, but those were some very special circumstances that led to his falling in our lap. Other than that, how far back do you have to go? Majors?  |

For this to happen like this.... it tells me Plowman and Boyd aren't messing around. It also probably means Steele won't be the HC going forward?

I don't think you'd get someone like this if you're not going to allow them to make their own hires. |

I hope he does a great job. You still have to hire "that" coach. He can't coach for them. Saban just hired Marrone and O'Brian as assistants from two teams that are dumpster fires in the NFL because of them. Anyone gonna bet against them being highly sought after coaches after a few years with Saban?

One of the callers into Finebaum stated that although he wasn't sure about our situation, he felt like Donde stood out as a leader making tough decisions during her presser. Maybe he was right. Hope so!

This is worth the "buying out" of Phil, doncha think??  I was disappointed like the rest of y'all about Phil taking so much to go away, but sadly that is how practically ALL public sector execs behave these days -not just in athletics. It is pathetic. People go on and on about private sector exec compensation, but they are blind to how Local and State coffers are just flat out being robbed by "public servants" working a the top. |

It's so easy to take care of your own when you are using OTHER PEOPLES' MONEY - ain't it??? Seems to me Tee would be a good recruiter to hold onto, as long as he is clean from this scandal - which he appears to be. I'm not sure what to think of Tee as a coach. It is hard to judge seeing how he was surrounded by a bunch of dead weight on the coaching staff. Hopefully Weinke is gone. |
