Not necessarily. But given the current state of things, it's hard to imagine many scenarios where the SEC champion would be left out.

I also don't feel like if your have never played/coached you shouldn't be able to decide who plays in the playoffs, but hey what do I know.

GO VOLS!!!

Since the NCAA has handed the decision over to a committee, this is going to come down to regional bias and a beauty contest.  Unless Notre Dame and The Ohio State (wins Big Whatever) have 2 losses each, they are likely in in. Oklahoma will have to fall flat on its face because Stoops will whine so loud they are almost guaranteed a spot this year. Who in PAC-12 is going to beat Oregon? SEC champ may have to go unbeaten to get in. That leaves LSwho out because Les will lose at least one game this year or maybe two with game day mismanagement like normal.

I think 3 or more college teams go unbeaten this year. Every big time school is dodging the big game almost.

Barring a big upset in the SECC, and absent 4 major conference (plus ND or course) undefeated teams---absolutely.

no conference champion should be be guaranteed a spot in the championship. this would totally ruin the purpose of a playoff system which is to have the 4 best teams regardless of conference affiliation.  the 4 teams should to the top four from the aggregate of the selected polls.

If it's not Tennessee getting screwed, I could give a fizzle.

If bammer has one loss and gets left out, I may well throw a party.
