Title: Let's talk 2017 NFL draft and Vols Post by: Volznut on May 02, 2016, 03:03:14 EDT Pretty much knew no one would get drafted this year, we return 18 starters, and other than Randolph, I didn't think anyone else had a shot.
2017 However, will be different. Here's who gets drafted and in which round: DE Derek Barnett - He will declare as a junior and will be the first Vol taken. NFL teams LOVE big time pass rushers. 1st round, top 20. CB Cam Sutton - Most had him as a second rounder this year, I think he would have been third rounder. In 2017 - I see mid second round for him RB Jalen Hurd - Will declare as a junior and NFL teams like him because of his size/speed combo, but it will be a DEEP RB class. I see him as a late third rounder, early 4th rounder RB Alvin Kamara - Will declare as a RS junior. NFL teams like his versatility. 4th round LB Jalen Reeves-Maybin - His lack of size will drop him down, I can see him playing safety in the NFL. I see him as a late 4th rounder to early 5th rounder QB Josh Dobbs - If he improves his passing, someone will pick him up. I see him going in the 5th round. That's it. 6 guys drafted. The following will be Free agent signees: DE: Corey Vereen. Undersized, won't get drafted. However, I can see him making a team. DT: Dan O'Brien. He will get a shot - not sure he will make it OG - Dylan Wiesman. He won't get drafted but I can see him in the NFL as a center or backup OG somewhere. DB - Malik Foreman. He has speed. I don't think he gets drafted but he will get a shot in the NFL TE - Jason Croom. It will depend on how he takes to TE in 2016. That's all: Juniors that will think about leaving early but return for their senior season at UT will be: TE Wolf WR Smith WR Malone OL Robertson OL Kendrick OL Thomas DT Vickers DB Kelly Jr DB Berry |
