Title: I'll say it again: watch Chernobyl.
Post by: Black Diamond Vol on May 28, 2019, 05:08:55 EDT
It's hard to watch, but you can't look away. It has gotten more intense with each passing week.

This thread on Twitter offers some very strong praise as to its authenticity:

It was great again last night.

Are you watching The Hot Zone on Nat Geo? It's about the ebola virus. It's only a three night mini-series and they show more than one episode each night. Last night was parts one and two and it came on at the same time as Chernobyl. But that's what DVR is for.

By the way, Liam Cunningham who played Davos Seaworth on GOT is in it.

Seriously, what about the show would upset your dog?  Just curious.

This last episode followed "wildlife control" around the town. Their job was to basically shoot anything on 4 legs, lest they get away and spread radiation throughout the continent. And most of the "wildlife" they engaged was actually pretty domesticated.

That was pretty rough. No pun intended.

The whole show is gruesome. The affects of radiation on man and machine are amazing.

Okay, but has your dog actually been acting upset or were you just joking?

I had two dogs.  One only reacted to sounds from the TV like howling or barking (or a doorbell!), the other one would actually watch and sometimes would bark at a "TV dog".   The first one (my namesake Bandit) had bad eyesight, which probably explains why she only responded to sounds.

Yes. If a dog is on the TV, he'll walk up to the screen and wag his tail. If something bad happens to that dog, he'll whimper and then come lay in my lap.

He knows.

I've actually seen several dogs in my life that do this or something similar.
