And we still have a shot at winning the SEC in baseball.

Great minds and like that

I've been focusing on UK in the East, thinking the overall SEC title was out of reach- but Arky and A&M have come back to the pack. After this weekend, we'll be tied for 2nd place with whomever loses the UK/Arky game tomorrow, and just 1 game behind the winner.  

Bats took a two-week hiatus, but it looks like they're back.

UF threw 73 pitches in that inning? Holy crap, I've never heard of such a thing.

Greg Maddux used to occasionally throw that many in 9 innings.

 

Left some runs out there with baserunning blunders. Otherwise, the offense was better.

They won?t sneak up on anyone this season. They were one of the dirtiest, mouthiest teams in the country last year, so they?ll get everyone?s best shot (sorta what our baseball team experienced last year). But as already stated- with a schedule that easy, it might not matter. I sure wish we had another shot at them this fall. 

And probably 75% of their tax base.

In a vacuum, a midweek loss is meaningless. But this makes three straight games where the offense has been lacking. UF hasn?t been great this year, but they?ve looked a lot better lately. They will take the series this week if the bats don?t wake up.

It?s hilarious that Joyce was the first guy from that team to make the show. IMO, he wasn?t even one of our top 10 pitchers that year. But 105 mph trumps all, I guess. 

Jordan Beck is the second guy from the ?22 team to get the call this season, joining Trey Lipscomb (Ben Joyce was already called up last year). Drew Gilbert is hurt, or he?d probably be there as well (look for him later this summer).

If you don?t follow baseball recruiting, CTV has been a good, if not elite recruiter so far. But that?s about to change. What he has committed for the next three classes is on another level- we?re talking LSU-type recruits. And a lot of these guys will get drafted out of HS and have decisions to make. CTV proving he can get guys ready for the Show should hopefully sway a lot of them to stick with UT.

It?s definitely top-heavy, but I don?t think it?s quite as strong top to bottom as it?s been in the past. A&M, Arkansas, UT, and UK have separated themselves from the pack.

Still probably the best conference- though the ACC is pretty good this year, too.
