Title: Strong's play pretty obvious in retrospect Post by: BanditVol on December 06, 2012, 02:57:26 EST I caught the tail end of Finebaum on the way home, and this occured to me...
Jurich publicly swore to keep Strong at Louisville, so the amount they offered him, while a bit ridiculous for a school such as Louisville, makes sense given Jurich's stance. Further, with Louisville going to the ACC, they probably felt they needed to make a statement. I think we could have had Strong for $3-3.5 million if not for Jurich drawing a line in the sand. Is $4.1 million ridiculous for Louisville at the present time? Of course it is...but as someone tweeted earlier tonight, just 13 years ago everyone was shocked SOS got $1 million. Football brings in huge revenue and is very competitive. I think the salaries continue to go up. I actually don't think it's a good thing and definitely reflects some skewed priorities in our culture, but it is what it is. |
